Now, all I have to do is figure out how to navigate in your forum. Original owner of a 76 Malibu Classic with many late model modifications and updates. I have a few pics over on forgotten chevelles. I will do my best to repost pics to the G3M forum as soon as I learn how.
I just found this posting and will enjoy meeting all of you.
If I can be of any help with any of you who are restoring these A bodies I have about 40 years experience working on these cars. And, I do have quite a collection of hard to find parts accumulated over many years and lots of trips to salvage yards.
I am a retired Army Helicopter pilot. I flew the AH-1 Cobra in Vietnam. And yes, I am an old fart in age, but, young at heart.
Ok, that's enough for now.

Re: ~~Introduce Yourself~~
Thanks again. When I'm good & healthy I'm going to "flip" the handle on my tailgate to the inside, and smooth the out side. I'll document the project and post here. Thanks again all.

Re: ~~Introduce Yourself~~
Thanks for the ad. Although I joined a little over a month ago, I haven't stopped by here to let everyone know I'm around.
My project is a '75 Malibu that was found in a barn. When I found it I wasn't really looking for this body style. I was instead trying to buy back the first car I bought shortly after getting out of high school. I'm going to date myself here, because that was back in 1974. YES, I'm old. lol It's a 1969 SS396 El Camino and I owned for 17 years and the gentleman that has it now has had it ever since. He's going to RESTORE it. Yeah right! Since he's owned it, he's only put a motor, trans, and drive shaft in it.
Anyways.....after he turned down my generous offer, I hopped on Craigslist and ran across this '75 Malibu from Texas for $2500. It runs and drives and has only one spot that is rusted. Although it does have little spots of surface rust, it's a very soild car for the money.
My plans are to keep it as close to original looking as possible while updating it at the same time. The wheels will be the only thing that will at first glance be a give away. Before I even got it home, my computer searches and purchases were a nightly thing. Within the first week I had ordered wheels, tires, headers, gauges, radio, speakers, new carpet, a dash top, vinyl paint for all the interior trim, new door sill trim, Flow master mufflers, and loads of small parts it needed. Â
I'm keeping the bench seat as it only had a few small rips in it and a bench seat these days is not something you see too often. I know I'll get grief over my choice of what I'm going to do for paint for the time being, but it my car and not yours. Â lol The paint is oxidized and I'm not going to buff it out. If I were to do that, the small spots of rust would make it look bad. So until the time comes to paint it, within the next couple of years, that's the way it's going to stay. Part rat rod, part survivor.
So here are tow pictures of when I first got it home, and after got the wheels om it. I've been taking pictures as I go and will post them after I get it back on the road.

New member all original 1974 malibu
Hello everyone,
I've recently purchased my second 74 malibu. Had the first one in my teens. Life happens and I sold it many years ago. I'm now 40 and ran across an all original 74 with 22000 original miles. Had to have it. Its a 350 and I plan on doing many things to it all while not disturbed the originality. I'll post some pics when I figure out how. Just purchased 2"lowering springs and shocks/struts. Wheels/tires are next on the list.

Re: ~~Introduce Yourself~~
Hello everyone my name is Andrew I am currently in the world with a 1973 cutlass "S" optioned 442. I am having a 6.0L LQ4 built for it and came here for help with fitment issues and insight to what does and does not work.
Background story of my love for the 73 cutlass. Since I was 16 I had my eyes on this 73 cutlass supreme which I knew the original owner. I always asked her if she was willing to part with it which she resisted for years. After about 15 years of it sitting on her property rusting in the rain she finally came to the conclusion that she'd rather give it to me then watch its slow death. So she did I was ready to take it on and overlook the obvious cancer and decay. Once I started digging into it I realized one major problem the roof skin underneath the vynil top was 80% gone.
Not giving up yet I started looking on CL for another 73 to combine the two and make one runner. In my search I came across a solid rolling 1973 cutlass S 442 listed on a lien sale for $600 I emailed the guy and told him of my plans. The day of the lien sale came and went I couldn't make it cause of work. Another week passed and I received an email from this guy to tell me nobody came for the 442 so if I wanted it bring a truck and car trailer plus $1. And that's exactly what I did. Best DOLLAR I ever spent!
Look forward to bringing her to life cheers everyone
