New "for show" license plate.
This week I got a pair of 1974 Michigan manufacturer plates from a friend. For you non MI folk, they did NOT have year stamped plates for passenger cars in 1974. You put a 74 tab on your 1973 plate, which is what I have on the back. But, I put one of the MFR plates on the front. Unfortunately, in the State of Michigan, you can no longer register authentic DLR & MFR plates to historic vehicles. So, this is just for show. I like it a lot though.
Don't tell anyone...but they were old FoMoCo plates

Reminds me of the Black/Yellow old Cali plates. Very nice. In my state we are forced to have them on both ends BUT I have our "green" plate that is grandfathered and am going to transfer to the Malibu once she's registered. (had it since 1990...LOL)

I have a matching plate of the plate that is registered to the car on the back, but it does not have the 74 tag, as you did not need a tag on both back then. I don't care to have a 1973 plate on the front of my car with no 74 tag.

I just bought a bunch of 73 Ohio plates. One day I'm hoping to put them on a garage wall. I pick up lease returns and take all the vanity and out of state plates off the vehicles.I think I have about 400 plates now. My Monte wa built in Cali, I've been trying to find a cool 73 plate.
