Re: Pep Boys?
On American restoration they restored the "statue" on the front of the building. How cool would that picture look in color? ! Stuff from a long time ago was always so much more eye pleasing than today.

Re: Pep Boys?
I started to work for them in March. I went back to being a tech since I can not find anything in my field since I graduated in '08 from college. Pep Boys is not a bad place to work for nor is it a great place. As I put it, it is the McDonald's of auto services. However each PB is a little different from one another due to the techs inside. Early this week a guy comes in with NOS duel stripe Goodyear polyglass tires from 1972. He was doing a 100 pt 1970 GS resto. He wanted the tires mounded on re-chromed '71 Buick rally wheels, not one shop wanted to touch them. Most of the guys were scared of them, used to doing low profile tires. My boss looked at me, points "this guy can do them". They went on and held air just fine. Told him "I would not drive on these".
Be that as it may, biggest request we get at our store: the bobble heads of Pep Boys. (Shakes head).

Re: Pep Boys?
I used to work at Pep Boys (#718) in the mid '90s in parts. I got to be known as the guy that could find just about anything for you. It wasn't a bad gig, but we had a revolving door of managers that drove all the good employees away.
Now when I go there, the oddball parts aren't stocked anymore and no one knows anything.

I love those old pictures.
Its hard to find good parts guys. Most just look at what a computer spits out and if you have non stock parts they get all confused.
Its even more fun when you have a car that changed parts half way thru a production year or there are multiple options.

Re: Pep Boys?
don't get me started of 70s and 80s NOT ..... Those were a major pain to get the right parts for.
"I need a headlight for my car. What size engine?" is more commonplace now.
