Driveit's driv'in it!!!
Licensed and insured the Chevelle yesterday!
23.00 License
40.00 Insurance / 1 month
30.00 1/2 tank of gas
50.00 new battery
19.00 4 qt. Tans fluid
4.00 Break Fluid
Total money after spending more than I needed to = 166 which is the total above.
I am so excited to drive it again and just hope I get my seat bolted the rest of the way in and get the seat belts put back in before I get pulled over for doin a nast burnout somewhere.

Sweet good for you. If the snow would ever melt and or stop coming down here it would be nice to drive mine also.

I hope it does, I know I could not wait to drive mine again. It had been over 6 years!

You can buy insurance by single months in KY? Here it's a year (unless you're in the "risk pool", in which case it's every 6 months).
Enjoy the ride!

Its just wood with fiberglass. And no I really don't want to make another one. It was a lot of work. If I was to do it again I would use round A/C vents and more mat in the fiber glass. It was in for a year and then on the second summer I whipped a doughnut and with the flex the top cracked. Thats why the carpet is now on the top. Also the glare was a bit much at certian times of the day heading into sun off a glass dash. I had to do the resign in the car with the dash bolted in as other wise it would warp from the heat generated. I also painted the bottom of the windshield so you can not see the edge of the dash. Next time I'll put weather strip foam up against the glass so it can flex more. I will be making my own dash for the 74 Laguna as I'm going with a vintage air set up so will build dash around it.

Re: Driveit's driv'in it!!!
Still driv'in it! Had a break that was sticking a bit at first, but that appears to have resolved itself for now. I do have a small break fluid leak and transmission fluid leak somewhere, but it seems to take a very long time to leak off.
Now I need to get my seats bolted the rest of the way down and get the seat belts back in.
Also I bought a 10$ piece of junk side mirror from Autozone which sits way to low on the door and I have to take it back.
It stinks not having a side mirror on either side! Well... Gotta keep going.

Don't "driveit" with a brake leak, get it sorted out.

Re: Driveit's driv'in it!!!
Working on it. I need to get new brake lines, but haven't been able to find any pre-bent and can't find anyone to bend them for me. I tried it myself, but broke every line I tried to bend with my hand held pipe bender.

These benders work great and are reasonably priced:

Re: Driveit's driv'in it!!!
I have and use that same bender and it does work great!!! As for pre-bent lines, I'm pretty sure I've seen them on ebay and inlinetube.com. Dont know if they make the lines from the master cylinder to the proportioning valve though.

Re: Driveit's driv'in it!!!
Brake lines you need are available from inlinetube.com, which is near Detroit.
Lines are available in the usual steel, or in stainless steel. And they do have the lines from the master cylinder to the prop valve.
these are stainless steel.
I spent a few bucks there

The one I had was like this one.

Either that one sucks real bad or I just didn't know what I was doing!

I have one of those also --used it for -8 A/C hard lines. They're more effective with larger diameter tubing than brake lines.

Cool, master cylinder lines. Good info. I'm considering bending my own so I can hide my line-lock out of the way.

It's not the bending that's a pain as it is the flaring. Next time I'm getting the hydraulic flaring tool immediately. I don't care that it's $300.00. It's so worth it.

Go to Autozone- I'm pretty sure they loan the flare tool- maybe the bender too.
