Very Happy Nice ride, Jeff! Say, I'm thinking about installing a modified gen. 3 A-body frame under my '57 sedan. If you put your 'Vette running gear under a '73 - '77 Chevelle and make it into a canyon carver like Limey suggested, I'll swap you my '57 chassis. We can put a straight axle under the front, build some ladder bars and make your 'Vette into a gasser! Hmmm......

Had a buddy in the service who owned a '59 'Vette a lot like this one many moons ago......

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meCUMBoDv7o&feature=channel_page

Went to his home in LA on liberty and met his sister. We used to terrorize Van Nuys Blvd. in his 'Vette. He could pull daylight under the left front tire in 1st and 2nd gear when he got down on it. Great fun!

Happy Motoring,

haha, that would be cool harry, just my 'vettes a unibody. The closest thing to a frame is the bird cage that surounds the "cockpit" Very Happy tht gasser looked awesome! it sounded good to Smile thats what i always liked about talking with you! you always have the coolest stories to tell!

Shocked Gosh, I'm getting old, Jeff! Didn't realize the mid-'80s 'Vettes like yours had no separate frame. Steve's '59...... Back then, 'Vettes had a full frame and believe it or not...... The front suspension was a carryover from the '49 -'54 Chevy passenger car unit. Kingpins and all (no modern balljoint suspension 'till '63). Power steering? Nope...... Took a lot of power to steer it, though. Changing over to a straight axle entailed hanging the parallel leaf springs and solid axle off an early '60s Ford, Chevy or Dodge van on the 'Vette frame rails after dropping the girder beam that the original front suspension mounted to and then working out the steering box and drag link.

I think(but dont quote me) the c1's are the only corvettes with seperate frames, and maybe the early c2's. but the c3's and up dont have a seperate frame.

Ah the feel of no power steering Smile My elcamino that i used to have didnt have power steering, that was fun trying to make sharp turns.lol Also my little z car that i was working on had it, but it didnt work(no hoses) the little time i spent behind hte wheel it was so easy to turn, but thats probably because how light it was! Very Happy

Donde estas this weekend, badbiscayne? Not fluent, but I can muddle through well enough to get you something to eat, something to drink, something to (ooops, better not say that Embarassed ) or start a knock down drag out with everyone in the cantina.

Very Happy Just kidding! Enjoy your weekend in Texas and keep your feet dry. We had nearly 6 inches of rain here in 2 hours time a few days ago and a real frog strangler early this morning as well. I gotta wade out back through the mud in a few minutes and take care of Oskar. He's our outside Rotti, the rest of our dogs are inside now. But I can't bring Oskar in because he'd likely kill all our cats.

Best regards,

Harry
