center counsole question
Does anybody know if a Oldsmobile console lid and inner box will fit a Chevy console? I just received my "free" console the guy at Chevy talk was offering. Its not bad other than it didn't come with the lid (or inner box). I would like to use the parts from my hacked up olds console to make a nice Chevy console. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: center counsole question
Not going to work, my friend. I have both sitting here and Olds lid measure 13" lg while the Chevy is 14 1/2" lg. The Olds inner box is slightly wider, too...and, won't fit down inside the Chevy opening.

Yeah its in decent shape, he threw the shifter in also. My only problem now is I was assuming the olds lid and box I have would work. I haven't tried to see if they could be used, but mcarlo77 said no

Re: center counsole question
I've got a box and lid that are in marginal shape...and, you're welcome to them if you want to pay shipping. The plastic hinge is broken (as 90% of them are), the vinyl/foam on the lid has swollen and pulled away a little down each side (could maybe use some adhesive and clamps to pull those edges back in) and there's no spring mechanism that served to slam the lid down.

That would be great. Thank you. How much do you want for shipping?

Re: center counsole question
There are 2 styles.
73-75 had no fake stitching.
76-77 has fake stitching around the outer edge.
If i remember the free console top is 73-75
And it sounds like the lid is 76-77 do to the spliting problem.
In my opinion if thats the case, i would stick with that bad A$$ dual gate olds console. Just my .02.
I never noticed difference, but thanks to coughcough chris, i now know waay to much.

.....Its not a real dual gate console, its a hacked, gutted cutlass unit sitting on top of a universal dual gate shifter.
