"We love microcars here at Autopia, but even we’re taken aback by the car Perry Watkins has built from a children’s coin-operated amusement ride.
The Briton, who holds the record for the world’s lowest car, claims his micro machine is the world’s smallest car, and we don’t doubt it. His Lilliputian ride is 51 inches long, 39 inches tall and just 26 inches wide.
The 47-year-old spent seven months assembling the car after finding just the right candidate - a Postman Pat kiddie ride. He scored it on eBay.
“It was in non-operative order, but for what I had in mind, this was of no consequence as I only wanted the bare fibreglass body from the ride,” he told The Sun newspaper. “This meant the unceremonious removal of Pat and his black-and-white cat Jess, the money box and sundry other bits and bobs.”
That done, he built a steel frame and mounted a 150 cc engine pulled from an ATV. Then he added lights, mirrors, wipers and, of course, a wind-up key. The flames are a nice touch, and we love the blower sticking through the hood. It’s the perfect touch for a car that opens like a funny car.
The car is road legal, but even Watkins has his limits. His daily driver is a Jaguar."

I want to build one now, maybe a couple and have a mini car club. But I would definatly have a 350cc or larger engine maybe 2 stroke.

I'd never fit into one of those things, Hydro...... Not even on a dare. Had a Triumph Spitfire once. The 2-seater English sports car with the tilt front end. Put the body on a GT6 frame (larger brakes and stronger rear axle shafts) and swapped in a souped up 4.3 litre Chevy V-6 out of a mid-80s Astro van along with a Borg Warner T-5 tranny. Lots of fun. Handled like a go-cart. But getting in and out of the thing with the top up was quite a feat for someone my size. Finally developed an exit strategy that involved getting both feet out, then both arms and then hauling the rest of me out using my shoulders against the side of the body. My wife laughed every time she saw me do this...... Said I looked like a hermit crab coming out of its shell......

Still, its fun to see what other folks who dare to be different come up with.
Happy Motoring,
