I just discovered that this morning, too.  Thought it might be a technical glitch at Comcast.  Suppose there's some kind of contract dispute with Speed TV? I'm going to be pissed big time if this is a permanent change.

There is a small article in Popular Hot Rodding that says the Speed Channel is just gone. No more My Classic Car, Two Guys Garage, Gears, RU Faster, Chop-cut-rebuild, or the Barret-Jackson Coverage. Like you said, other stations may pick some of the programs up, but Speedvison or Speed is gone dammit! But now Regis Philbin can have his own sports show! YAWN!!!

I think Gearz is going to come back. It says so on there website. Chop cut was great, too bad its gone. Velocity has a lot of stuff on and Im sure someone will pickup somewhere Speed left off. Too big of an audience not to.

I hope someone picks up Stacey David's gearz.  This is one of my favorite car shows as it is very hands on and shows how to do stuff.  Muscle car & trucks on spike are pretty good also.  Counting cars is entertaining, but does't show anything technical.      Another favorite is car warriors, although I haven't seen a new one in quite a while.Mad

Fox has owned speed for the last 7-8 years, and pretty much left it alone during this time. Speed became Fox Sports 1 because of the household exposure on the cable networks. It really doesn't matter if channel had cooking shows or automotive content. It was about creating a sports channel to compete with ESPN and getting exposure to the most households for the least cost.

I'm not into sports, but don't have anything against sports channels, but there are too many on my cable system.
