Man, it's like a like a B-grade horror movie: "The People Who Live Inside Your Doors"!
Are you sure the frame's okay on that thing? I don't see how it can be unaffected if everything else is this bad...

Re: 77 Malibu Classic frame off resto
I haven't checked in for a while. Its been a busy summer raising a new puppy. Little Black Lab named Sam. He is a terror but slowly learning to be a good boy.
The Malibu is ready for paint and I am back in the swing of things. I plan on painting Thursday 9-25. I'll throw up a few pics. The frame is back together too. Air ride mostly installed and all lines are in place as is the 4 wheel disk brake setup.
Ooops. I haven't taken the frame pics off the camera yet. Here is the trunk. I painted it and taped it off so I can paint the top side with the rest of the car.

I sprayed all the small stuff too and put it away till assembly time.

Re: 77 Malibu Classic frame off resto
My bumpers came back last night. I had sent the rear headlight bezels, tail panels and some vents to have re chromed. They wanted over $600 just to do the rear tail panel so I said skip those. I found NOS headlight bezels on Ebay and grabbed those. I even found mint vents in the basement from a 77 I took apart and stored away. I just need some better tail panels or maybe I can polish those up a bit. But the bumpers look freakin mint. Paint day is tomorrow.

I'm glad you went with chrome bumpers, everybody (it seems) paints theirs when they redo their car. These are some of the last cars that look good with chrome bumpers. Did you section them before sending them off for chrome?

Re: 77 Malibu Classic frame off resto
Nope they are stock. I like them sectioned but it seems like a ton of work. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that.
Its painted

The color here is most true to how it looks in person. the FL lights in the other pics really mess it up. the Metallic looks awesome.

Re: 77 Malibu Classic frame off resto
I have an issue. The vinyl top in mint green is no longer available. I can get dark green, black and even white. Or I can try one of these and paint it the old color if I don't like it. I would love to hear anyone's opinion on what color they think would look best. Thanks

If you want it green i would try to dye it. If that doesn't work, black would look fine. Looks nice BTW. My dad bought a '73 Malibu new that had a baby blue top, that's not available either.

Re: 77 Malibu Classic frame off resto
I don't think I'll like Black but maybe dark green would be ok. I can then paint it if I hate the look. I have painted tops black before with Mar-hyde and it holds up well.

I like those tires. Back in the 90's I worked at a Dayton tire dealer and those were hot sellers. They are Out of production now.

Those are 20 years old but still like new. I guess I better be nice to them so they last.

Re: 77 Malibu Classic frame off resto
I finally retired my old Goodyear eagle st's (made in '92). Just bought a pair of 295/50/15 master craft avenger's yesterday.
