Re: Wiring stumper for you guys
I was told that the one pictured on the right below came as a 1 year only 74 part. Bad idea. I can tell you this. If you open it up there is a little flat metal spring. When you turn on the car if everything is connected as it should be, it magnetizes and the spring is drawn down. This will allow the car to start. If you bend down the spring so that it is connected at all times you can rip out the rest and the car will start. If the seat belts are not clipped or the wire is not connected the car will not start if this is not done. My 74 has no wiring for the seat belts at all. and the part when my car would not start for about a month.d to get creative when my car would not start for about a month.

Re: Wiring stumper for you guys
On my car, it looks like all the wiring is still connected; except the harness is unplugged at the passenger seat. Car starts just fine. Unless I'm missing something that was done on my car, why is it necessary to go to the trouble of bypassing the circuit inside this START relay when all is necessary is to unplug the harness? BTW, this relay came off a '75 Monte Carlo.

Re: Wiring stumper for you guys
IDK what was done to mine to bypass the system. In fact i had never known this system exisisted untill i had a problem. (we had several '70's cars growing up and none had it) My relay started failing by popping every once in a while, pushing the reset would get it running. One day the reset stopped working so i opened it up and made a permanent connection.

If it is working then done touch it. Maybe I misunderstood the issue. I was just saying if you were having an issue with it not starting, then that is a way to get her to start.
I think Dynchel was the one that helped me figure the issue with mine last year.
