what size rear end gears came stock in a 75 monte
has a 350 and came with a 4 bbl from the factory, probably a 350 trans

Diameter? Probably 7.5" Ratio? Matters what options were put in or ordered.

Check your code numbers to cross reference them. There's a bunch of info on here through the home page under Chevy. The code is stamped on the axle, passengers side between the brake hub & the axle housing, on the side that faces to the front of the car, usually.

8.5 rear its probably a 2.73 but could even lower.

I don't believe the 7.5 was used until the '78 models, G bodies etc The 8.5 will take a lot of punishment, from a small block, at least mine have.

My '77 Malibu has a 8.5" with 2.56:1 gears. salt flats is right.

Most seem to come with 3.08 or 2.73. Spin the tire by hand and count the rotations of the driveshaft compared to the tire.
