Re: Strange Sounds and vibrations
There is an adjustment to take out play out of the steering box. Its on top of the box. It has a screwdriver slot in the center and a locking nut to lock it down. Dont turn it much, a 1/16 to 1/8th turn should take out the play. If you go too much then your wheel wont "return" when going around a corner. If the screwdriver slot is flush with the top, or below the top, of the lock nut, then its probably time for a rebuilt unit.

I just thought of something, do you have all four suspension braces installed? There should be two from the core support to the fire wall, and two from the k member (under the engine) to the frame. I have run with out these and had some weird noises. (Usually when hitting bumps , and especially pulling into drive ways)

Do you mean the two long bars on top and two short on the bottom? If so all were removed long ago. I had to remove the bottom two so my headers would fit.

Those would be the ones. Probably not your noise, but mine made noises that those eliminated.

Re: Strange Sounds and vibrations
I intentionally tried to cause the sound this morning on my way in to work and it happened again. I am really starting to think it has something to do with the cross member being loose or the tranny mount being broken.

Try to lift the rear of the trans and see if the mount is bad. You should be able to put a jack under the tail shaft (or maybe even "bench press" it)

I'll check it when it warms back up.
