and the bracket for the throttle cable doesn't have another square hole. but the engine and carb are from a 79 camaro, but not sure how much the PO changed and swapped over as far as bracketry. thank you for the answers, I'll post back what I find, all that I googled said it would be carb mounted nothing about it mounting on the petal.

On my two cars, there is a separate bracket that mounts at the back of the intake manifold that has a round hole to help secure the metal tube that extends from the brake booster vacuum hose. They also have the extra square hole that would secure the kick-down cable; although that is only being utilized on the '77 Monte. I notice that bracket is missing in your photos.

It seems wery few has ever heard of a gas pedal mounted kickdown. Thats why the cable is hard to find. Hope you find the solution.

ok looked at the firewall and gas petal no extra holes on the fire wall and only the one slit for the throttle cable. so I'm going with it has to go to the carb, so I might have to get a new cable. does anyone have a decent picture of the bracket like Mcarlo77 described for the kick down and where it bolts like is it one or more bolts. I have been through all my pictures and have not come across any bracket that looks like what he described

Just for reference, here are two pics:

1) Shows where the throttle cable passes thru the firewall (upper grommet) and the kick-down cable (lower grommet) on my '75 Laguna.

2) Showing the additional bracket needed for connecting to carb. This is off a Qjet manifold from the '75 Laguna donor car. I don't believe the bracket is the same as used on 2 bbl carbs.

I am sure that my 76 has that same bracket for the kickdown cable as pictured above, but I just can't find it right now. It is probably in the scrap heap at the machinist.

But here is a pic of my original throttle cable bracket. The add-on piece is for the cruise control cable.

Here is a bracket that I am thinking about using. I don't know what it is off of.

This is the bracket I am using on my new engine. I'm using an aftermarket throttle cable and I have my kickdown cable installed in the bracket but not hooked up on the carb.

so to fix my kick down cable issue, I looked in my spare parts bin and found the right gas pedal. so being able to use the kick down cable I had without modifying it and the gas pedal still had the little plastic grommet in it so that worked out. thank you for the responses, I never would have guessed there were gas pedal kick downs.

working on hooking up all the vacuum lines on the carb, Im using the canister and I think I am hooking up the hose to the right port on the carb but the hose is too small for the fitting, I don't think it should be this hard to shove a hose on. at the canister it fits right and any bigger would be too loose. im going for the one in front near the top that has a slight angle on it toward driver side, 5/16 hose fits on, according to one thing I found they call it a bowl vent nipple. also there are two vacuum lines from the fire wall. I figure one goes to the vacuum ball but not sure of the other one. one has a tan stripe and the other has a brown stripe on it.

Canisters have different port configurations. Can you show a pic of the fittings on the one you have?

That is actually a tough one to answer. The simplest diagram I have seen has the tank port going to the tank vent, and the carb port going to manifold vacuum.

Other diagrams have purge valves between the vacuum source and the canister, with those being controlled by ported vacuum, still others have the vacuum teed into the pcv line or the lines are teed.

My best guess at this point is to hook up that carb port on the canister to the ported vacuum fitting on the carb and use an adapter tee for the different size lines.

If the carb has a vent fitting, I would just tee that into the tank vent line.

big hose just above the fuel filter is going from the canister. finally got it to go on, just not sure if that one is correct. two more ports that are free, not sure if it would matter which one for the vacuum advance on the distributor. and the other one would be not used.

a little hard to tell but I got the EGR hooked up to the EFE switch (blue thing in bottom right corner) and running to the carb in the front lower passenger side port.

There should be a hard vent line from the fuel tank that terminates under the brake booster. It should be the same size as the canister fitting. Then get the right size hose to fit the carb and use an adapter tee to splice into that line.

I am fairly confident that you can use the ported vacuum port for the carb port. Without the diagram that came on your car, it is hard to say if there were some extra valves between them or if it went to the pcv valve. The canisters that I've seen that were plumbed to manifold vacuum had extra valves built into the top of the canister. You could try a manifold vacuum port, but I don't know if that port on the canister is restricted. If it isn't, it would be like having a regular vacuum leak.

Maybe this will help.  I made this crude schematic when I removed the Qjet from the donor '75 Laguna so I would have the vacuum hoses documented.  Not the easiest to read, but hopefully you can make out the routing.

Mcarlo77, I can make out most of what is on here, but what is the bell looking thing in front of the carb, I can't make out what it says.

I just stumbled on this thread! Totally awesome! I am in the burbs and I am wondering if you know where to get ahold of the clip under the dash that connects the duct to the box. I pulled my dash apart and well, long story lol! I need to find one of those clips, it would certainly help firming up the dash...
