Help me choose!
Just going over what I will do with the engine I am about to start building. I think I will do a black theme with it. Here are a few that I like, which is your fav?
A.
175.97

B.
144.97

C.
109.97

A and B are my favs, but the price definitely looks better on C.

Re: Help me choose!
I'd go with "b". Here's a idea, pila is (was?) Offering some old m/t aluminum valve covers for $30.00(?) Buy those and paint them black.

Re: Help me choose!
The edelbrock ones are made from cheap cast aluminum and will look crappy when they oxidize. Be a pain to clean with all the ribs. I like "b" or the M/T idea.

Re: Help me choose!
I see B & C everywhere. Never seen A before -- they look good, but that is a pretty steep price for valve covers.

Re: Help me choose!
I had through if painting my chrome ones black and making a stencil with the logo or stripe like on Options A and B.

Re: Help me choose!
I think to save cash what I will do is clean and paint my current valve covers black. Make a stencil to make the shape of the A. option above then clear coat over it. Maybe I will even put a ghosted bowtie in the middle. I will do something similar with the breather.
I may purchase these though. I already have the chrome washer tabs.

Re: Help me choose!
Just playing around with paint. This is the look i would be going for if I paint the ones I currently have. The gray parts will be the chrome that I will sand to give it a brushed look then after the black is laid down I will clear over top everything.

B is cool but I like how A looks. But not for that price

Re: Help me choose!
My choice would be any one except the Edelbrock covers. Some nice ideas with the paint etc.
I'm not a fan of Edelbrock stuff......

Re: Help me choose!
I'm a fan of chrome, lots of it but that just me.
B looks great, and I think anything done tastfully will look great too.
I too have found ribbed stuff to be is a lot more work to keep looking good.

Re: Help me choose!

This is what mine look like, old school m/t's (eBay)painted with VHT wrinkle black. Â I wet sanded and polished the fins. Â The air cleaner was a rusty chrome piece i got for free, with a little work (and an new 14/3 air filter) it matched the valve covers. Â BTW if anyone needs a 14/3 for a "open" application, ask for one for a '78 trans am. Â

Re: Help me choose!
"B" would be my choice. For me the carbon fiber look doesn't seem like it goes with era of '73-77's. Like Dynchel mentioned... I also kinda grew out of the chrome under the hood theme. I still like a little chrome but mainly I like the black & billet aluminum look.

That's me too. I am also thinking of doing something a little different with my rally wheels too. I am thinking of painting the wheel black and maybe sanding down the caps and doing it mostly black. Maybe sand it all down and leave the lip of the center cap with a brushed look and clear over it.
OR
Remove the original center caps and install a small simple chromed one to cover the center and do chromed lug nuts with the black wheel. I would leave the trim ring the same on both I think.
Thoughts anyone?
Anyone got any rally pics that have been customized in any way?

The former rotw had rally wheels painted black with chrome lug nuts.

Re: Help me choose!

here you go, I liked this pic so much I saved it.  If you look closely you can see that they are blacked out chevy rallys with chrome lugs.  There are several different things you can do, numerous choices in center caps, with or without trim rings, or very basic (as pictured) although personally on the pictured car I think rwl's would look better. I've even seen the same set up as above only with the trim rings  imho it looked pretty good for minimal $$$.

Re: Help me choose!
That's what I was thinking on the money aspect. I am really wanting to go to that Power Tour show in Knoxville. That would mean I need the new engine a new set of tires and hopefully an overdrive tranny. I may have to go with blackwall tires to save money and I think rallies just look so much better with white letter tires. I may do some painting and try a few things out.
