NSRA to "allow" cars under 1980
Went to the weekly local car show with the pop-in-law (he's NSRA with a 31 Furd), who informed me that the Nat Street Rod Association has decided to admit all cars, trucks etc built before 1980 into their org (that means us). Sounds a little like the ACES move a short time ago. Are the 70s land cruisers suddenly wildly popular or is there
apparently another group of previously snotty car guys looking for "new blood", (new $) Thoughts?
P.S Also saw a wicked cool 73 Grand Am and a gigantic 75 caprice at the same show.

Their running out of money. Everyone with the cars like 70 SS Chevelles and Z/28 Camaros are starting to get scared of driving their cars, so the NSRA is gonna try to get some more money by allowing the "unpopular" cars will be allowed.
On a side note, it shouldn't be what year your car is that makes it a street rod. It's a street rod as soon as you make the car the way you like it.

I know for a fact that I'm driving my Chevelle until either I kill it, or it kills me.

I had a 70 as well. I nearly drove it into the ground..... it ended up burning the rest of the way there, .
I'm an asshole though. I would drive a Baldwin Motion, Yenko, COPO, or any other factory performance car the way they were meant to be driven! Not saying I'd purposely tear one up, but parts were made to break, lol.

I feel much the same way. I'm a little older than y'all, so my '57 will be my driver. But the principle is the same. My car is no trailer queen and she will be built to be driven regularly once I have the upgraded G3 chassis fitted under her and finish building the engine.
