There are some beauties there. Wish I was up there to just walk through the place.
You missed this one. Look back in the back.

For me, walking through a place like that is like walking through the SPCA -- I want to bring them all home.

That's a shame. You'd think if he knew he was going to retire, he would have gotten the word out like a year in advance. Sell everything at scrap weight prices. Theres still a ton of useable parts and probably a few cars that could be saved. Rat rod heaven.

Re: Junk Yard of 4000 classics gone before winter
I was at this yard today... The best cars are pictured, most others are stacked up and trees are growing in them, some inaccessible due to thick brush. I found a 73 chevelle it was tipped on its side resting on a car and a tree, it was rotted out, side windows gone and interior trashed, dash ripped out typical crusher. a 75 wasn't much better, up on an embankment hard to get to, still had seats with foam exposed some of the dash but trashed, couldn't get to the hood to get it open.
The yard owner was there but ornery because there was 30 people trying to talk to him at one time. (looked like the craigslist ad worked) the best car I saw was the red/black 60 Thunderbird in the photo above, it was $1000, it was complete with a decent interior w/red and white seats if I was a Tbird fan I would have bought it.
It was a fun afternoon to walk around and look but I didn't see anyone removing or buying parts
execpt the 16 yr old kid trying to pound a hood emblem off a 1940 pontiac with a rock.

Re: Junk Yard of 4000 classics gone before winter
Too bad there weren't any G3's with good parts worth saving. Kind of wondered how productive a walk thru the yard would be based on the photos. BUT, it's never a wasted day when you're able to roam around a junk yard!
BTW...if I was the owner and saw some kid beating on a hood ornament with a rock, I'd be beating on his head with a bigger rock! It's that kind of s@#t that causes many yards to prohibit people from pulling their own parts. People get banned for life from the yards around me if they are caught recklessly breaking things.

It's really a shame that more folks didn't know about that place, specially people with cars like what I see in the pics....

I looked at these companies at a trade show. Both looked good and were dead ringers for OEM GM belts. Look around on these sites:

Re: Junk Yard of 4000 classics gone before winter
It's my first car, and I've had it stashed in the back of my Dad's shop with a cover on it until life slows down. It's never going to slow down.
After looking it over the other day, I am really jonesing to get it out.
I'll start another thread later tonight.
