Re: Buying a Laguna S3?
You mean the wood grain inserts? I am not that familiar with all the options on these Laguna S3's?
Is that an optional style? Special order? Or just what came with the Laguna S3's?

Re: Buying a Laguna S3?
I'm with Joe -- my big worry would be frame rot if it's been sitting like that for a long period. Still could be worth it as a parts car. He could have posted a few more exterior shots, too. That would have been helpful. Makes you wonder if he omitted them on purpose...

I bet there is a lot more rust than he is saying (whether or not he knows it) still worth a look.

The wood trim with the S3 emblem in the center are exclusive to the '75.

That's something I didn't know. I've seen Lagunas with and without the woodgrain door panels...but, now that you mention it, the ones without were all '76's.

Re: Buying a Laguna S3?
Went to see the car, rust bucket! Frame did look pretty good though. Already had 1/4's done once, rotted through in many spots.
Interior was OK, several rips in headliner, dash cap (not dash, had a cap over cracked dash pad) cracked. Swivel buckets had several other rips, had been recovered once, not well done, console lid completely broken, radio backer had been cut out very large. Upper door panels were rotted in front, so not usable.
Obviously I passed on this one.

Re: Buying a Laguna S3?
That doesn't surprise me. Â Just by how it looked in the weeds I figured it would be a POS.

Not sure I would say POS, but definitely more than I want on my plate right now.
Good candidate for a complete restoration, maybe to do some performance additions in the drivetrain.
I think the guy would have taken $600 or $700 for it, but as I said more work than what I want on my plate........

Can't say I'm surprised about the extensive rust. As I said, when the gas tank straps are "toast", there has got to be some substantial rust underneath, in the qtrs and trunk.
There will be others...

I like those. Maybe better than my own. I would probably do something different with the wood grain, but I really like the look.
