I took the door panel off my 77 Malibu to fix the arm rest and noticed this tag on the paper behind the top panel. I just thought it was interesting and maybe someone else would too.

I suppose some one was in there fixing the mirror or something but what was funny was a screw was missing..not even a hole in the paper..whatever. Just thought it was interesting. Have a good day.

I found one just like that on my 77 passengers side. Much more faded though! If you ever rip out your carpet there is a tag between the insulation and carpet that will have the color ID code on it. I've been saving these little finds to put in a scrap book someday.

It's interesting how they did stuff. I haven't had the car torn apart inside too much but would be cool to come across the buildsheet even though there isn't anything special about my car.

Typical locations for that are in the door panels, under a seat and between the gas tank and the trunk panel. Some folks have found them in odd places too like under the dash. No rule at GM on where to put them or even to put one in at all. They pumped out so many of our cars that it was just like "whatever, just get it out the door".

Tag
Here's the story on the sticker you found. I worked at the local Chevrolet dealer from 1973-78, these cars were notorious for wind noise and or water leaks. To prove the panel was removed and a repair performed, we attached 1/2 of the tag to the work order submitted for warranty. Back in those days labor was billed at $12/hr, $15 for Corvette, mechanics received 1/2.

That is way cool paperwork. I have not had the pleasure of finding anything like that and I've got everything except the dash and parcel tray out right now.

Build sheets were/are supposed to be thrown away at the end of the line, but often it is just easier to leave them where they lay.
That's why you often find them with a screw shot through the middle, or stuck in sealer/undercoating under the carpet, etc.

I found a build sheet under my pass front seat. I got all excited until I remembered the seats weren't original to the car, they were from the seat donor car.

Not terribly exciting...but, this is the first time I've seen this extra tag on a seat belt (pulled these Dark Blue belts out of a '73 Monte Carlo). Odd in that I find these same style belts in B body cars. Maybe the lengths are a little different?
