Re: Erichs 76' Laguna - White devil.
Yeah shes been trouble.
the original owner didn't drive her much, so when i started driving her every day things just started giving out left right and center.
it doesn't look like ive down much but new brakes, master cylinder, radiator, tires, wheel bearings, battery , carburetor, new engine, and a few other small things.
went from the stock 350 to a 383 stroker thats been bored 40 over. and vortec heads. so theres been quite a power boost.
i really want to get the stock gear in the rear end changed out next but i didnt realise how much they cost, ouch.

Nice car. A nice 342 gear with a posi would be your best gear upgrade.

Re: Erichs 76' Laguna - White devil.
The only problem I ran into was the car developed a bad case of wheel hop after the locker was installed. It finally took old school traction bars to correct.

Cleaning up nicely,I like the white paint and wonder if it's a rare color for the 76's.I haven't seen any others that color.

Re: Erichs 76' Laguna - White devil.
Thats why i want to go with the full auburn instead of the locking blocks. but its good to know if i do end up going that route theres a solution.
i think white was common, ive seen a few, what wasnt common was the half vinyl roof on the back half. most ive seen had the front of the roof vinyled. i want to keep the white in a two tone but not sure yet. ill have nother post at some point with my photoshop paint designs.
the original owner also had a sun roof installed.... this needs to be rectified.

Re: Erichs 76' Laguna - White devil.
The wheel hop issue may have something to do with the use of a locker -- I have factory posi with 3.42 gears and some upgraded arms and shocks (nothing wild), and I have never had a wheel hop issue.
A sun roof can be pretty cool (no pun intended) if it was well done and doesn't leak...

The back half vinyl roof on the 75-76 is unusual.
Yeah, I hate a sun roof too.
Nice car.

Re: Erichs 76' Laguna - White devil.
yeah i want to get the suspension done aswell. i have the money for the parts, but not the labour. and seeing as i don't have a garage or a storage unit, and apparently car guys in mine and my friends generation who like muscle cars are not very common, i have few options.
oh... it leaks. bad. it was not a nice job. the original owner was a do it yourselfer....and he really shouldn't have.
he did all the wiring himself.......
[img][/img]
i have wires that go from yellow, to red, to green, back to yellow..

Re: Erichs 76' Laguna - White devil.
Wow, that wiring is a hairy mess. And yeah, the first thing you DON'T do is change the wire colors in the same circuit. And there's no reason for it -- it's cheap and easy to nab a few extra harnesses from other cars of the same manufacturer off ebay so you have spares in every gauge and color/stripe combo. If he was that bad, I'll bet he didn't pay any respect to the wire gauge, either, which can lead to all sorts of issues.

Re: Erichs 76' Laguna - White devil.

Yeah im terrified of that wiring harness.
no I know theres a few different thicknesses and I have like 8 wires that just end, not attached to anything, and im having issues with my headlights coming on and the tac doesn't work...ect

No problem Steve thanks for posting it.
I just started cutting and took all that wiring out. Got a new painless harness in there now.
I also add a separate fuse block like this for any ad on's sure helps down the line if some thing stops working that was a accessory I added to know were to go.

AND FYI I bought the car that way that is not any of my work. The Laguna as a painless harness now.

It had two stock harnesses, A 1995 Impala harness and a Buick road master harness the guy was trying to make it all work. Needless to say he never got it running.
He had big plans

Which is perfectly doable. Â But having done it, it's a lot like reconnecting Spock's brain. Â Connect one circuit at a time, otherwise it's easy to get overwhelmed. Â You should also have some other wiring projects under your belt before trying it. And you better have the manual handy for the donor car.

Re: Erichs 76' Laguna - White devil.
Well im definitely gonna give it a go if I can, but garages want way too much for a rewire. but if there really are painless harness' great, cause from what ive seen they all look like nightmares lol.
im getting quotes for things but im gonna have to work around it and try to do it myself cause so far I cant justify 900 in labour for 350 in parts, not happening.
and I keep getting these fresh out of school mechanics/apprentices and when I pop the hood ( no joke ) they look at the carb and are like........" ummm....... yeah I donno what to do with that....

Re: Erichs 76' Laguna - White devil.
Hey anyone every wake up one morning and all of a sudden your vinyl top let go at the trim?
It was fine before work then when I woke it had split in two places and let go at the top of the half roof.
now what I don't know is if I need to remove this asap or risk greater damage to the car, or if she will be okay. I don't have the money nor resources at the moment to do this kind of work because im having the suspension and brakes all redone from head to toe.
im scared to remove the vinyl and find so much worse under it and having to just lock her away till I can repair it.
