Instead of “Wagon Wednesday”, it was “Winnebago Wednesday”; these were EVERYWHERE when I was a kid! Now, not sure when I last saw one in person. Anyone else remember the Minnie Winnie in ‘Escape To Witch Mountain’?

Minnie Winnies are still being made. They are now based on the Ford platform. In fact, the wife and I have reserved a 32 footer to drive to Anchorage next May. My son works for a leading RV rental company in Anchorage called Great Alaskan Holidays and each year they order around 150 new RV's to replenish their fleet. They have a program where you can drive one of these newly purchased RV's from the Winnebago factory in Forest City, IA to Anchorage at a significantly discounted rate. I've driven that AlCan hwy twice with my son when he was in college...but, wife has never been along. She's been wanting to experience that trip...so, for our 40th anniversary, we're going to take 2 wks and see the sights along the way. Never driven one before...should be interesting.

Re: Winnebago Way & ads
When I drove the two legs with my son, we were always in a hurry to get either there or home and didn't really stop to do any sightseeing off the beaten path. Trip back home was a couple wks before Christmas and I was sh**ing bricks for a month worrying about the extreme cold and long stretches of uninhabited road that we could face. Fortunately, the jet stream was working in our favor that week and was pulling milder Pacific air up the coast and down thru British Columbia & Alberta where we had to drive. Think the coldest it got was in the Yukon at maybe -10F at night. Not unusual at all that time of year to be having -40F...so, we were VERY lucky. No snow the entire trip, either (3500 miles door to door). Looking forward to a more leisurely trip playing tourist this go-around.

*chuckles*
Not for me ... I drove over double that during my 2011 "Coast-to-Coast" road trip from IL to PA back to IL then out to CA & up through OR & WA!
