Greetings from Belgium
Hey All,
I was wondering where you all were hanging out
Meet the Tangerine Tornado, AKA Clockwork Orange.

As the topic implies, I'm writing in from Belgium. (A small, independent country the size of Maryland wedged between France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.)
I bought the car back in 2001 for $2,500. It was unmolested, Taupe Metallic, with a 250L6. It had 50K on it and had spent the last 12 years on 4 flat bias ply tires.
I bought it for one purpose only, to enhance performance with V8 power.
Other than a lick of paint, over the year it picked up: SSBC brakes, 200-4R trans, 3.42 gears, 400SBC, AFR Eliminator heads, D-1SC procharger, Snow water/methanol injection, forged rotating assembly, even splayed caps.
I had it dynoed at 715HP and 700TQ. I raced it for a while with its best runs at a consistent 11.70. I'm sure there was more I the tank with my 2.x 60-foot times. Over here tracks aren't prepped.
Anyway - she has now been daily-ed as she has nothing left to prove. My mantra used to be "12-seconds or bust". Now she can cruise as she pleases and flexes some street muscle from time to time
Fondest!

Re: Greetings from Belgium
Thanks All for the very warm welcome.
So this is where a bunch of the gang is!!!! Â I couldn't imagine you all disappeared.
Ummmm, Chevywoody? Â I remember sending you chocolates... Â Or 77Malibu, Dan??? Â Polyurethaneman?
And... yes, yes, Limey SE, I think see who you are, but I can't remember your handle. Â Where did you dig up that pic??? Â I think this was a race I went to and was not allowed to run because no race-pilot license - run by some Dutch fellows in Belgium, but they would only waive the license for a day for Dutch nationals... at least that where I think this was. Â I am still a bit annoyed by this. Â On the other hand, they had a reasonable AC/DC cover band as I recall. Â
Yer roots are from Flanders? Â Whereabouts? Â Do you know? Â I do live in Flanders, but not originally from there; tho' I love Europe. Â My family is from New Orleans. Â Â
I'm doing fine - just getting older. Â I went from 30/20 vision to needing reading glasses. Â
Chevy getting a new Starter and starter cables a few weeks ago:

Starts like a new car Â
The Tangerine Tornado is doing fine. Â Â I fixed some leaking valve covers a couple of weeks ago. Â I still need to replace my leaky Griffin radiator and rear coil AirLift bags. Â Then she should be good for a while. Â Still very smooth and great street manners. Â She could use a new pair of drag radials as well - the cooper cobras still have tread... but the rubber is a bit hard after 10 years.
In the meantime  I've been working on another ride.  The Missus refused to drive the TT because to big and too brutal - in fact, she has never actually driven it - so I decided to do something completely different.
I wanted something small, nimble, zippy, different, and so in October 2013 I bought:

Happy Missus with "new" toy in  September 2014

Then two months ago, some 19-year-old doofus:

Hello Dorian, glad to see you made it over here.
My wife (and me too!) loves Ghias. I've been looking around for a decent one for a while.

Re: Greetings from Belgium
There were a few guys that kept that Chevelle section going. (Dorian was one) The others vanished and that was it. I know they are members of G3GM as well, but they don't post much.
Bummer.
Lotsa car forums dying slowly. Obsolete, I guess.
Seems everything is moving to FB, but the format kinda sucks for info.

Ah, yes 76Malibu. I remember you.
Yes, I was wondering what the slowdown there was. It seemed I turned around and next thing I know tumble weeds are blowing by...
Too bad, it used to be such a vibrant community.

Re: Greetings from Belgium
Once Doc and Butcher bailed, that was it. Keith has tried to revive it a little, but I think it was down to you, me, Cort, alowerlevel, ratnfested and dynch.
All of them were here except you.
I guess the migration is complete.
