That last one is a Crown Vic, no? Looks like it would have made a decent rag top...

SOME JUNKYARD PICS
I think this would be a great thread for anyone to share whatever junkyard photos they've collected when out scavenging parts. Doesn't have to be G3's, either.
Here are a couple I took a few summers ago (these would make great jigsaw puzzles)! See if you can find the G3 in each pic.

Re: Some junkyard pics
Good eye, Paul! The red one is a Cutlass. Although the "Elco/Sprint" is actually a Ranchero. If you were to look about two car lengths to the right of the Ranchero, and just to the right of the patch of weeds, you'll see a small dark line above the windshields of a couple of old Model T's. Almost looks like it could be a road. That's the top of a '75 Elko. Surprised you didn't catch that one...HA!!

Re: Some junkyard pics
Your picking of old cars is way better than mine. The ones I pictured have been there since the early '90's. There is even a '57 Chevy (4door) further back.

Re: Some junkyard pics
Next to the white town car second pic is a 2 door 77-9 caprice with that neat back window. Not sure but I think a grey 76-7 Monte behind the town car.

62 Impala next to the rusty pickup in second pic too. I really like those.

76 or 7 I see a license plate pocket. Might have had the decor option.

Re: Some junkyard pics
Mmm mmm mmm ... I see a number of cars I'd like to have from those pics ... LOL! That convertible LTD CV is most intriguing.....
Always love looking at junkyard photos. Tho I have a love-hate relationship with 'em, it's always kinda fun to see what is in the yards. Featured a few on OC,SH the last few years....
Course, I prefer to be AT the junkyards ... to see 'em in person.

Re: Some junkyard pics
I stand corrected...that is the '76. Was going off memory (when will I learn...ha!). The red '73 is just off to the left...out of the picture.

Re: Some junkyard pics
I have a love hate thing with junkyard pictures. On one hand i cannot keep myself from looking, and at the same time my heart bleeds from seeing cars i would have loved to own and care for, just rot away.
Just like i love/hate that site Called carsinbarns. If you know it ? You would know there are hundreds of rare musclecars rotting away in backyards etc cause people refuse to sell or take care of them. Ill go now and kiss my chevelle and promised her never to sell.
Regards from Copenhagen

Re: Some junkyard pics
I understand what you are saying. However, here in MN most all are rusted beyond reasonable repair and I simply look at them as valuable resources for parts to keep the remaining cars on the road and looking good. Circle of life kind of thing, I guess.
Now...it's a whole different story when I go to AZ and browse the yards. In my mind, virtually every vehicle sitting down there looks like it could be saved because they are largely rust-free.

Im the same way. Why would junk a car if it wasnt rotted out?

Re: Some junkyard pics
Some people seem to just hate old cars and only see value in the metal. Im from Europe ( Copenhagen) and here we have a large us car culture. But still you get the evil eyes somtimes when i drive my chevelle around. I wish they could all be saved and i have always hated to see one sitting and slowly rust away. But yea its true some need to die so others can live.
One thing is a rustet out car another is a rustfree az car just thrown away. That really breaks my heart. Dude it is a good thing im not a billionare, cause my driveway would be packed.

Re: Some junkyard pics
Okay I admit to having a problem...I took the week off after Christmas, my wife asked me what I'm going to do. My 9 year old son and I already have plans to go to at least 5 local yards, 2 of which my son and I have never been to. She just shook her head, and reaffirmed my problem. We enjoy walking thru the yards and taking pictures. Hopefully we'll come across some G3s. If not, I know of at least one neglected one in the garage that needs some love. Maybe we'll wrench on it this week, get some progress. It already sounds like an exciting vacation!

Re: Some junkyard pics
Good luck, they are pretty scarce in yards around here, plus the roundy round, & derby guys swoop them up fast.

Re: Some junkyard pics
With scrap metal at $30/ton right now (down from a high of around $270 a couple yrs ago), there isn't much incentive for people to sell them to the yards. They've all but dried up at the local Pick-N-Pulls.
