still tinkering on the Elco..an update..
I have some issues to deal with yet on the '75 Elco. It seems that the connector behind the gauge panel isn't working on a couple contacts, namely the left turn indicator light, and the high beam indicator light. I've had the panel out a couple of times, so it's gotta come out again. Last time was to replace the speedo cable. Must have disturbed some wiring or connector also, because now the gas gauge doesn't work ! Also the Tach quit taching ! So, the fun continues.
Other things I've done include a new brake booster. The old one (1977) must have had some internal problems, because it wasn't giving enough boost to be comfortable with the brakes. They work really good now.
Some weeks ago I was fighting the Q-jet carb, and it's still not working very good. I have an electric fuel pump in the rear, that I unhooked from the fuel system, thinking it wasn't helping the carb problem. Right now I'm thinking the fuel level in the carb isn't keeping up with just the engine pump, and I'm gonna hook up the electric again. The engine pump makes about 4 to 5 PSI, and the electric, when it's on, makes about 7 PSI.
One reason I unhooked the electric pump is because it's loud as hell. I plan on insulating around it, to get it quieter. It's located under the panel in the front of the bed, in that cavity.....
I have a brief stumble when starting out with it, but if I just hold it down, it smokes the rear tires..( like it should) More fun to come !!!

I changed the speedo driven gear today, went from a 41 tooth to a 42 tooth. Hopefully that will get it closer to actual. Also re-plumbed the fuel lines at the front side of the ank, to hook up the electric pump again.
I'm picking away in between times at this, while also working on an airplane. The shop hangar got up to 74 degrees today, while outside temp was 89 !! It pays to insulate a building ! 11 inches in the walls, and 25 to 30 inches in the ceiling !!
More electrical checking tomorrow, with the gauge panel problems....
