getting something new
my Monte Carlo is at the local transmission shop, getting a 700r4 trans to replace the th350 that does not work well with new 373 posi rear end gears
i'm gonna have a completely new trans, with a shift kit, new tork converter, new drive shaft with new u-joints, a new detent cable to the carb, a g-force cross member, and anything else i didn't mention to make it work, I just hope they don't have to mess around and take off my shorty headers because they are a bitch to mess with and I got them installed perfectly where they don't leak.
I will keep you guys posted

Overdrive with 3.73 is the best combo IMHO. Good luck with it.

Re: getting something new
so I got my Monte back from the trans shop, and it is a complete success,
can run over 75-80 at 2000 rpm's and talk about smoking the tires off the line...
whoop whoop!!!!!!

Agreed. I just got mine running with a 200-4r and 3.70 rear ratio, that combo works great. Well it was working great right up until I broke something in the trans, lol. Now I have 5 neutrals instead of one.
