Yes that's how it is held in. I think you need the Gen VI timing chain to go with that install. Not positive.

Yes you do have to use a Gen VI timing set.

I've been thinking about using a step nose cam in my 496, but have never done a conversion. When I left the machine shop the gen 6 blocks were just starting to come out, and usually it was a step nose cam in a 6 block. The Mk IV blocks were getting the standard cam with a button.
