Gas tank?
Does a 68-72 A body tank fit a 77? Guys at Tanks says they are close. Has any body tried one?

Re: Gas tank?
I've looked into this myself, From looking at pictures, It looks to me that it is too short and the tank opening looks smaller.
I think that a closer fit would be a late 80's square body caprice with TBI, If you are looking to do a in tank pump conversion. Rock Auto has them for $60. I'm going to order one and try it over the winter.

Re: Gas tank?
I have a pump in the tank now, it was a pain getting in there though the stock hole.

Re: Gas tank?
94-96 Impala / Caprice fuel tanks fit our years with a little massaging. Have had one in mine 20 years now. I have it my build thread.

I've been trying to find your build, but I can't. Do you have some pics of the tank?

Cool! Do you have the link handy? Love to check out your installation of the gas tank.

Re: Gas tank?
Hi Guys ,
Reviewed my post. I did not detail it there. I did in another forum. But , here goes.
Fuel tanks from era 1994-1996 Impala / Caprice (B-Bodies) will fit our cars. When attaining be sure to nab the tank straps as well. As the Impala / Caprice tank is little deeper. Also you will have to create a "spacer" between the top of the tank and bottom of the trunk floor. 2 strips of styrofoam approx. 2" wide and 1 1/2" in height and roughly 12- 18" long running parallel to the tank straps and adhered to top of the tank. Cut the fuel filler neck off the old tank and fit a straight section of rubber fuel resistant hose to the new tank and removed filler neck. Impala / Caprice tanks are 23 gallon tanks netting a extra gallon over the stock.
Here is my build thread.

Cool, so I'm guessing you utilized the factory sending unit of the Impala tank?

Re: Gas tank?
I was able to get a tank from a 1992 Buick Roadmaster - when cross referencing it appears the 1991-1996 sedan tanks (Caprice, Roadmaster, Cadillac) are the same as the 1994-1996 Impala SS. It did not come with straps so I need to get those yet.

Re: Gas tank?
Hopefully one of those "B-body" variants will float through one of your local self service salvage yards so you can get the straps.
