$50,000 or less
What kind of new performance car can you buy for 50 Gs or less? http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_content_landing_pages/1440/fastest-cars-under-50000/

Re: $50,000 or less
The article rated the boosted 5.4 in the Mustang at 305 hp- isn't that what the V-6 is rated at?

Re: $50,000 or less
im sorry but id never want any new muscle cars, i might take a G8 or a new Vette but id rather have an old school for a few reasons. No emmsions testing so any mods you do it wont matter, they always look better than the new cars, they Gain value instead of lose value, you can modify them yourself and have no computer BS to deal with, you can put the newer motors and drivetrains in them like LSX and newer Hemi 6.1s and all that, more room in trunk, more seating room, no ABS and traction control whoa nelly for the people who like to drive, collector plates never need replacing every 8 years, i can go on forever

Good luck.......
The car alone will set you back $35,000 if you find one in good shape. A parts/project car will run at least $10,000 plus the time & money to get it up to spec. If you mean an actual LSx motor, that's gonna run you $12-14,000 depending on your options & then add the price of all of the swap parts & the 6 speed. You might pull it off for $50,00. You definitely could if it was a 71-72 Chevelle convertible, a 70 hardtop, or a BOP. 1970 ragtops demand a premium.....

actually i can get a 6spped and ls1 or ls2 with ECU and all the wiring harnesses for less than 2k. and it wouldnt have to be a 70 for me id like a 71 or 72 and ive been looking you can get a daily driver malibu on ebay for like 12k and while you wait for more money its driveable but yea its a 30-40k build without the engine and trans. ive priced out a few differnt build on one and its between about $38,000 and $72,000 for what i want. hahaha 72k is a SS70vert with a LSX454 and strange custom 12bolt and TCI6x trans. without labor of course

Re: $50,000 or less
Yeah, I'd like a 70 rag one day, but I doubt I ever get the money the way the prices are on them. I actually thought you meant the GM LSx crate motor. Just a Gen 3/4 motor from a wrecked newer vehicle could be swapped in for cheap. Still I'd rather find a mostly finished car to do the swap. Ever priced a convertible top? I had to replace the frame & everything on my old Eclipse & it wasn't very cheap at all. I can only imagine the price for a Chevelle top.

You can pick up fairly new Corvettes for dirt cheap right now. The market for them right now is godawful for sellers, but awesome for buyers.

So does Dan.........
I had a 70 Malibu, my old neighbor had a TRUE 1970 SS 396...... Shadow Grey, Muncie 4 speed, L78, no stripes. The guy that I got those Keystone wheels from had a 70 SS convertible needing restoration. They are out there, it's not like they are more rare or anything, just more demand for that specific year raises the prices.

I'd have a 2010 Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, with white R/T stripes, white leather interior with purple piping on the seats. I don't care if they're slow. I'm not a speed demon...all the time. I like to just cruise.

Re: $50,000 or less
The Challenger is a nice car. I guess I wouldn't mind having an R/T in black or Gunmetal Grey with the black striping & black everything out (think new version of Project Streetfighter).

me too, i know i said above that new cars are crap BUT i think the challanger is the BEST remake of any vehicle ever. i saw one when they were just coming out parked next to a old challanger and they are very similar, unlike the camaro
