The "flat" look was started by someone who wanted to paint a less than perfect car themselves to save money and not have to worry about making mistakes because the flat would cover them up. I guess there is a place for everything. JB

isnt it easier to paint over flat colors?
i painted my el camino with flat black rustoleum so its like i just have primer on it. im eventually going to paint the elky a burgundy color and the mali is going to be silver poly with the black landau top painted on.
mine are going to look like these

We're all talking about the finsh coat being satin (flat) not primer. And we're not talking about a rattle can paint job either. You'll need to sand all that crap off if you ever really paint your car.

gotcha. i dont know about the satin flat i didnt know anyone actually decided on painting there car a flat color for good. mine is just temporary til i finish all the body work. and besides the only color that looks good flat is black.
