PHR Project Talladega
Too bad Johnny Hunkins never stuck around to update us, but to all newbies wondering, there is some stuff on this site about Popular Hot Rodding's 75 Laguna & Johnny....... most of it negative - some positive.
Anyways, the reason for this post is to ask if I'm the only person to notice the new look in this month's magazine? If so, it appears that 90% of the graphics are gone as well as the orange wheels.
Talladega is now rolling on a set of these:

Whether that's a good thing or not is a matter of opinion, but there's no denying that the car looks much better now. Maybe it will finally get a real paint job & lose the graphics all together.

Re: PHR Project Talladega
I certianly hope they do away with the graphics and put a gloss paint job on it. That is the only real thing I had aginst the car. Sure, those wheels look better than the orange ones, but the orange ones were high quality steel wheels and a lot better quality than stock wheels or the ones on there now. JB

Re: PHR Project Talladega
I actually liked the graphics, would've thought more of it if they would've been lime green. Anyhow, I am probably biased since I used to run the dirt tracks!

This month's issue, so I doubt that there is a link yet. I also noticed several of Talladega's previous installments were missing from the site too or I would have already linked it all form beginning to end.

Re: PHR Project Talladega
When I saw the car in person back in April of 2010, the graphics were already gone. You could still see the outline of them, but from 100' it looked like a solid color car.

Re: PHR Project Talladega
Since you got the chance to actually check the car out, how does it compare to what we've seen in the mags? Is it actually a decently executed car or does it looked thrown together?
There appears to be a lot of nice ideas put into it, but you can never tell with magazines & Photoshop capabilities. For all we know the paint is rattle can covering up layers of wavy body filler.

I would like to see the car in person, I need to see/touch a "Just Dashes" restored dashpad in a 73-77 before I lay down the $$$ that they want.

Re: PHR Project Talladega
go to project blue collar buick and watch the dash repair there, then come back and do it yourself

It is worth it!!!! Absolutely amazing. It wasn't done when I saw the car, but Hunkins took a look at mine and said he was going to do it. Words don't describe the job they do.

Re: PHR Project Talladega
It looked ok. The body work was good, but I'm not a big fan of doing that, so I guess I'm a little biased.
