Digard Monte Carlo
I went through Birmingham airport last weekend, and the Digard Monte Carlo was sitting next to the ticket counter.
The exterior sheet metal did not show the sandblasted sheen from running super speedways, so probably restored but still pretty cool.
The pictures try to show how they did details like bumpers and covers to make a racecar.
Thanks -
Jerry

Super Cool! Thanks for posting pictures. As a kid I really enjoyed this era of racing. Through the years of restoring & modifying my Malibu...I've always been inspired with this look of 73-77' G3 race cars.

Cool was there a special reason the car was there? Or is it like Indianapolis where they just have cars that represent the location.

Awesome. Was there a Gatorade Chevelle too? I saw one, but it was a model, wasn't sure if there was a real car?

Re: Digard Monte Carlo
I think Darrell Waltrip drove that car, right? Damn I was young but I remember that car as well as the #11 Cutlass that Cale drove & Sr.'s #3 Monte.
Jerry- U tha man! I downloaded every pic! You must have blown a head gasket when you saw it, LOL. Thanks.

Re: Digard Monte Carlo
Thats great! No wonder why it was so hard to find an NOS rear bumper. They used them all on the race cars. It would really cool to build a street version of this car.

One of these days. But it is a good alterantive build and there is plenty of stuff available to make it actually perform as good as it looks.

I had thought about a 70's nascar paint job on mine, but have a hard time finding examples. Any more pics out there?

Some of the older members will remember "Ripstick" and his site for Lagunas this is one he did was a rusty POS he said so he figured why not, was later stripped for parts and then sold off the rest. He is still alive and well In Wisconsin and see him posting cars and parts for sale once in awhile, and almost bought a 76 Wagon with a 75 snout on it from him was a nice one, swivels and all

Yeah, ripsticks route '73. Went down permanently in about 2004.

Re: Digard Monte Carlo
Should have been lower. Its hard to get a tire that looks like those nascar tires too. That silver Laguna that Ive seen in popular hot rodding kinda nails it with the fender wells reshaped.

Re: Digard Monte Carlo
If you are flying to Talladega, you would fly to Atlanta or Birmingham. This car is from the museum at Talladega. Last time I was in Birmingham, the Penske Matador was sitting there but the only attention it got was from the drug sniffing dogs relieving themselves.
Man, that Pennzoil car looks like it's ready to jump a fence.
