BTW-anyone want to buy a 73 87,000 mile monte carlo,it has every option but power/moonroof.But now cruises with a 454 and 350 trans.I will let it go to a good home Sad .I just don't see myself being interested in it anymore. Neutral

the motor was stolen? but it still rides with a 454 and TH350?
i'm confused..
are you not interested because you just figured out that the motor and trans have been replaced in the 36 years since the car was built?

OK,I will start from the begining.
I bought this 73 monte in 2002 with the original 454/400 with 76,000 miles.
I just found out my 64883212
I just found out my 64883213

I had the motor and trans refreshed.But it was too fast and I did not want to destroy the matching #s drivetrain.So I pulled motor and trans and put in a 454 with 350 trans.The original motor and trans has been put away in what I thought was a safe place.

So right now I feel like an A$$ and need to find something different,cause I just don't think my heart is in my baby anymore.Time for someone else to enjoy it.

It had p/windows,p/locks,tilt,air (needs installed again)cruise,swivel seats with console,landau option vinyl roof.I added p/trunk release,and factory tach and gauges.

SO yes what was stolen was a brand new 468 and 400 trans

Monte, my heart goes out to you for the stolen engine & trans. You probably have the only Monte Carlo I've ever enjoyed looking at, a real beauty. Are you so sure you want to part ways with it? Sure it isn't worth as much without the drivetrain, but it's still the same car. I'm sure you will miss it when you do sell it & end up searching for another one. I looked for nearly ten years trying to find my 76 again. It still doesn't have the same options, but it's as close as I'll get. If it was an original 73 454 car, I think I would have been looking for another ten years before one popped up. Think hard about the good times with your car before you commit to selling it man. Things will eventually work out. Good luck & keep us posted.

Chris, this makes me sick to my stomach. I feel really bad for you, bro!!! I kind of know the feeling since my first Monte, a 73 S with electric sunroof was stolen from my driveway back in July 1994. I still have the memories, title and a few photos, but the pain still lingers.

Please, please don't sell your Monte and get out of the hobby. Please just step back for a while but don't sell your Monte. I know you're heart-broken but selling your baby is not the right solution. Also, we will miss you tremendously if you were to leave the forums because of this.

Bummer. At least keep the car 'til you get over the anger from the theft.
You may feel differently in a couple of weeks, and it will suck if you've already sold the car.
That monte has a lot of stuff that would be hard to find in another one.
And your motor and tranny MAY turn up somehow, you never know.

C'mon Chris,It sucks the big one it got stolen but you still have the car.
Its your car who cares if the #'s dont match.Down the road find another
454 but you still got one now in there and you can always get a th400 too.

On a serious note,I do have a 73 chevelle 454 motor that i am going to send to the shop and make sure it is good to go. I will put that in with the posi this winter if i deside to keep her.

I have wanted a 86-88 SS monte for awhile.But I want one with grey interior and no t-tops.I would paint it plum crazy purple and drive the $h!t out of it.At the moment I also have an 86 caprice that needs a motor.

My mind tells me that its time to sell to make time for other projects,but my heart tells me to keep it. ❤

Go get a small block for that Caprice from the jyard out of a rusty Suburban
and you will be good to go.
