Replacement pistons are typically in the hole more than it was from the factory. The manufacturer assumes the heads and block have been milled.

Very true, all reasons why i'm building a higher compression stroker later. Or just buy a short blick with a warranty.

Yes there is. I will have to verify what wires, but you simply jump across the whole system near the fuse box/ bulkhead connector. It is all in the starting circuit (purple wires) if memory serves me correctly.

If you can start the car without the seat belts locked, someone has probably already bypassed it. The button on that box is the override (one time) if the car doesn't crank with the seat belt engaged.

It fires up just fine without being buckled, but the wires still seem unmolested.

The jumper bypass probably won't be very obvious. I found a thread on another site that does a good explanation of what needs to be done to bypass the system.

That site also has some really good diagrams that cross over effectively since all GM cars used the same color coding.

So as it turns out the "350" from my donor car is in fact a 400!

Looks to me like the engine already in your car is a 400. I see steam holes in the pic of the .030 piston.

That's my donor engine, my original engine was busted by my younger brother and my lq9 was taken when my car was stolen and stripped so....donor car to the rescue.

Oh, I must be misunderstanding the timeline or something. So the donor car's engine was already in your car, and now you are doing the top end on it, correct?

Been busting my hump to get this done quickly and correctly! It's nice living in a neighborhood of car guys who like to join in when they see you wrenching.
