It's Barrett-Jackson week...people automatically think their car is worth twice as much!

That’s true. I saw a guy pay $10,00” for a Ford truck with a camper whilst 2 long wheelbase Jaguars sold for less than $5,000 each. I don’t like my wife watching the auctions with me. She starts asking me about my’86 C-10. I still want to buy a’73 Laguna. Maybe one day.

The only reason I watch Barrett-Jackson is to see if I can see my son in the crowd working!  He will send my pics of all the cool stuff via text long before it hits the auction block!

Hey Iggy, that’s cool. The only way my dad could see me on TV is if he was watching Cops. My uncle and cousin used to build old Packards and Cadillacs many years ago. They were friends with Mr. Barrett and Mr. Jackson when they first got started. The auction has changed so much since its inception. You used to go there to bid on a Duetzenburg, now your bidding on a rebodied Cuda.

My son makes the Hagerty Valuation Guide, he gets to look at the condition of the cars before they go across the auction block so he can evaluate them. Then tracks what they sell for. He is the one responsible for G3's now being tracked by Hagerty - along with the square body trucks. Since those are my two interests, I have no idea where he came up with tracking values of them!

Wow.  I had no idea. I'm feeling pretty good about myself now.

Mine was 4100 lbs new, before I started cutting.  Lightest ever was 3650 without me in it.

This last incarnation has been 3900 for a long time, but I'm back at it again.  I'll have some new data after the first of the season.

I would like to weigh my Laguna. I put the fiberglass nose on it and that saved over 100lbs at least. I am sure that I gained it all back when I installed the 496. Good trade in my book.

Back in 1987, I took a physics class at a local community college where we did a field experiment to calculate the drag on automobiles. One of the parameters was weight. I no longer have the details of that experiment but I do recall that my Monte Carlo with four passengers weighed in at around 4,800 pounds.

Wow! That car is nice! They have to have more than $35K into that restoration for sure.

I've seen this car and it is nice!!! The paint and panel gaps looked flawless. It was on the indoor turntable display at Summit racing. I see the listing is local to me but I haven't ever seen it out and about anywhere other than the one time at Summit. It does seem like a large asking price for bench seat and no A/C or gauge package. I got a laugh out of the light weight description also. I would also have to question the ET it is claimed to run, with a 3.55 gear.

When I weighed my '73 it was 4000#'s on the money. 1/4 tank of gas and I wasn't in it. It was a iron headed BB at the time with aluminum wheels. I can't remember if I had the A/C installed at the time.
