73 Chevelle Deluxe was the base model
Malibu SS was the Z-15 option on the Malibu not a separate model
Laguna was the top line

74 Up Malibu was base
Malibu Classic was the top line
74-76 Laguna Type S-3 was the "Sporty)
Also missing the Cutlass Supreme (of the Monte Carlo, Regal, Grand Prix line)

Not a whole lot of difference, but Monte Carlo S was the base model, and Monte Carlo Landau was top.

In 1973 only, there was a Monte Carlo Sport Coupe, which was base, then the S, then Landau. 74+, S then Landau.

What are you referring to when you say "share the same parts"? Are you talking engine, body, frame, or interior? Cause I know the '73 Chevelle is the same as the '74-76 except the '73 has a different rear end and had the swivel bucket seat option.

Those cars aren't even in the same league as an A-body. Where did that come from?

Novas, Omegas, Venturas, & Apollos are X-body cars with no frame, no balls, no style. Very Happy

Actually, all the 73-77 years had a different rear end. 76 and 77 I believe are similiar, but not exactly the same. 73-75 are distinctly different. The 75 trunk is straight across, which give it a much smoother look. That's why I favor it over the 2 previous years. Also, 76-77 had more steps in the headlight chrome, which is why I don't prefer them over the 75.

On another note, last week a guy told me he had a car just like mine, but it was a 72. I didn't say anything, but thought "Dude, you're not even close to knowing what year you drove." Oh well, I guess he didn't get into the Chevelles as much as some of us.

You must mean tail lights when you say rear end huh? Yes the only difference between 76-77 tails are the amount of white (Limey used to have a couple of good pics to show the difference). All 75-77 tail panels can be swapped with one another whether it's a 75 Laguna or a 77 Classic they are interchangeable. Also, the 75 headlight bezels are identical to the 76 & 77 base headlight bezels. How do I know? My passenger side is the factory 76 bezel & my driver side I pulled from a 75 Chevelle. No difference at all.

Don't forget this is including all G3's, so we can get into even MORE details if needed........ Very Happy

How can you swap this rear panel with the '75? You'd have to change a lot more because of the shape of the trunk.

Then we have the headlights, which are very different on the 76-77. Maybe the openngs are the same size you can swap them, but then it's not original.

That's a 74 rear end.......

My first 76 with the ORIGINAL single headlights. Bezels were primered black:

My new 76. Original passenger side, 75 driver side. Once again I repeat myself. NOT ALL 76 & 77 CARS HAVE QUAD HEADLIGHTS!

Actually it says "CHEVELLE" on the tail panel, but thanks for saving me some time! 77malibu77 has it right on the 77 Malibu & 77 Malibu Classic rears. Obviously you know what a 75 looks like. Notice the trunks are identical & if you were to add tail light covers, there is no identifying the car from the rear.

On the primer black car, you can't see the headlights or the back end, so I couldn't tell you. On the blue car with the louvers, it looks like a 75, but didn't you say it has tail light covers? And the 75-77 do have identical trunks, it's the 73-74 that have different shaped trunks.

Yeah there is. The bumpers are different.

74-75 are more "rounded" where as 76-77 are "squarish"

Good thing we have you to correct my mistakes Kyle. I forgot about the bumpers, lol.

HD, the black primered one is my old 76. Look at the headlights & you can see it is the single round style. If you can't see the headlights, right click & choose "view image". I wouldn't own a 76-77 with the quad headlights & Opera windows, just not my style. Very Happy I think we are in agreeance, just getting each other mixed up?

77malibu, the little square emblem just left of the right side taillight says "Chevelle" in block script.
