Umm cuz they can be had for a lot cheaper, I got two 76 'Gunas for $1300, you just have to be patient.

Seems like a good project. I agree on the high price...try and talk the seller down, and mention all of the stuff that's gonna need fixing on it. Remember, all of that stuff ain't cheap!

Ya that thing has been sitting there along time even has moss growing on it. I say you go and look at. I bet the inside is trashed and you offer him 1200 bucks cash in hand. Although i do know people who think they can let cars sit in a field turning to garbage and wont let go of em for what they are worth.

Re: posible new project if all works out
I can tell you first-hand what happens to a body sitting in high grass. And even the frame....
That's why I had to scrap a '77 Elco. It just sat too long in the grass. That car likely has some good parts etc, so if it was bought cheap, it would maybe be a good parts car.

Re: posible new project if all works out
Chris, I would have paid more for a factory 454 car for sure, but this is just a typical 75 Classic with a 350-2. Unless it has swivels & a console & is drivable, I wouldn't pay more than $500 for it. If you can fire it up & at least drive it onto a trailer it might be worth $1,000 depending on the interior condition & rust.
You want to know my reasoning? Here's what $1,400 bought me with a freshly recovered set of seats, new carpet, good original paint, & I drove it nearly 100 miles home the day that I bought it without a hiccup. I added the Olds wheels, but it had the original steel wheels & wire hubcaps. The date is wrong on the pics. The bottom one is to show the paint condition.

Re: posible new project if all works out
How does the interior look? Since it does run & drive, I'd say you could probably go up there with $1,200 cash & get it like someone mentioned earlier.
What happened to the 74 you were looking at?

Re: posible new project if all works out
Based on the photo, (link is broken) looks pretty tired to me.
I got the Laguna in trade for a mustang GT I had about $2000 tied up in.
I've seen too many nicer G3s go for less than $1,800.
Not knockin' ya, just think you could find a better car to start with for less.

Re: posible new project if all works out
Other than needing a new dash & converting the tan plastics over to black, my car could have been drove in a parade & I wouldn't have been embarrassed. Of course being a gearhead wouldn't let me keep things stock for long. Now it's sitting in pieces after a year worth of ripping this out & tearing that off. Even the AC worked, just needed a recharge.
Keep your eyes peeled & something will eventually pop up for cheap. I tried not to limit my search by looking everywhere within 200 miles of where I lived when I wanted to find my 76 & I passed up quite a few good deals to get the exact one that I wanted. What's a good limit to set & are you looking for a particular car or any G3? I bet someone on here can turn up some stones & find something.
