Got the red Revell '77 Monte Carlo model kit with Rally wheels and built it like my car. The top is hand painted, all of the trim (rocker, window, wheel etc) was done in silver Sharpie marker, and a fine tip black Sharpie marker. Kit came with bucket seats, so I took a bench seat out of a '62 Catalina model, cut it down, and used that. Other than being the incorrect year, I think it turned out great.

A lot of folks around here will make a sharp model like yours and put it on top of their air cleaner when they put their car in a car show. JB

What's up with the orange peel? Nice attention to detail on the trim pieces though.

Bad quality paint.

I'm going to quit using "model" paint. It's all terrible quality. But this was a difficult color to find, so I had to run with it. It's not exact to my car...but it's the closest I was able to find.

Valspar at Lowe's is EXCELLENT. I'm using it to restore one of my bicycles, and I swear you'd never know it's a shaker can job. Nice cover, and a brilliant gloss.

Nice !

Ever try using actual automotive paint. There is a procedure to make it work. Dont use it like model paint with no prep though it will melt the plastic.
