I was just browsing the forum and thought I'd chime in on the Chevelle SE discussion. I was the 2nd owner of a silver SE back in the 80's. The original owner is still in town!! Interestingly the car was a 305, not a 350. There were 4 in my hometown which is about 25 miles from Wichita. 2 were 305's & 2 were 350's . I had all of the docs, as I worked at the Chevy dealer that sold it new & had the factory invoice & the receipt for the mod from Special Editions. I'd be happy to share what I know about these cars with anyone as there were some subtle differences car to car.

I, for one, would like to know a little more about the history of these cars. Were they a regional offering? What was the cost to mod these? What all was done to them aside from the rear spoiler, wheels and stripes? Thanks for your offer to shed some light on these cars!

I'd certainly like to hear about the cars, the modifications & the dealership. Maybe you can start a new "history thread" about the cars?

Aside from Limey's thread here with an actual SE (and some other mentions of them on this particular site)- there's not much info out there. It would be great to hear from someone who was actually there!

The history was covered in detail previously either here or over at Chevy Talk. I am getting forgetful, but if I remember right it was an effort by one particular dealer somewhere in the midwest, maybe Oklahoma. JB

Is that Holy Water Kyle? (For blessing the restoration of course).

Looks like he caught the frame-off bug. Nice barn, too.
