hood hook

Ok is it just me or is this massive hook the most annoying dman thing on these cars i think everytime im under the hood ive busted my skull on this thing so its time to remove it and go to hood pins i just figured id vent a little on here see what everyone things of this. my big debate is should i remove the hook and latch or just the hook ??? i got some pretty heavy duty stainless hood pins should be enough to hol it down. oo well if nothing else it will look real cool and make it go so much faster lol

If you wanna use the hood pins, then go ahead and get rid of the hook, since that was the problem in the first place. Might as well lose the latch too.

Oh, and if it's got hood pins, you better make sure that thing's fast!

oo this thing is gonna be one mean 305 hehehe its got like 4 sticker son the back bumper those alone ar elike an extar 31 horsepower from stickers alone add the hood pins were talking another 15 horsepower at least lol

It saddens me that I used to know people in high school that swore that the number of stick-on-doodads on your car was a measure of it's performance

lol oo i knew plenty of thme myself in highschool
but i still enjoy a few tastefully placed stickers here and there

Had a guy at my friends shop tell us his engine was producing about 400 Horse. We asked how he was sure of that and he replied with this " I raced a guy last week with 380 horse and I beat him by 2 cars "

im getting hood pins for mine, latch and pull is removed

im not a big fan of hood pins on our cars. they just look weird

i am going with lockable pins to lose the big rod sticking thru (yea i know the hood is cut already so whats the diff)

glad to see i wont be the only 3rd gen running hood pins then

im going to make a pin on fiberglass hood for mine so i have to use pins

I would take off the hook, but leave the latch.
The second generation Chevelles that had hood pins also had a latch.

Just my $0.02.

Normally in the drag world I see pins on cars with stock hoods as a safety on the outer edges. If you are going to pull the guts out of it, I would go for 4 pins across the front as opposed to the normal 2 on the edges.

Just my opinion though as I have seen my hood flop around up there at 100+mph.
