Hi there...

I actually joined this forum after finding it through Google, back in 2016, while searching for parts. I don't think I ever introduced myself, then.

Currently I own a 1974 Malibu Classic 2-door, with a stock small block (350) and a 4-speed. The car was originally a 3-on-the-tree. 7-years ago, my brother and I converted it to the 4-speed. This car was purchased new by my since deceased grand dad, passed on to my uncle, who passed it on to my now deceased younger brother (2016). Since I had helped him do a lot of work to it, he left it to me. My intention is to keep this car indefinitely and fix all the problems it has as a tribute to my late grand dad and brother.

This is my second 73-77 G body. I previously had a 73 El Camino with the original 454, for about 16 years. I sold that car back in 2014, as it needed way more work than I wanted to do to it.

I may not post up a bunch, however, I will definitely use this forum for references and technical help. I'll certainly chime in if I can help with something.

Welcome. Great back story sir and I'm sure both your grand dad and brother would be of you for your intentions.

You said you and your brother converted it to a 4 speed? I bet it looks a little like this, but probably has buckets in it. Hello from Florida! Dscf4118

Yes... it actually looks a lot like that, except with a factory type shifter and not nearly as clean!

Thank you all for the welcomes too!

I'm trying to work out the pictures thing here. I've done a little searching for directions on how, but can't seem to find anything. I guess it's easier to ask for a link... LOL.

OK, I fgured it out. Here they are:
Hello from Florida! 20160510
Hello from Florida! 20160514
Hello from Florida! 20160513
Hello from Florida! 20160511
Hello from Florida! 20160512

These were taken when I got the car out of storage a couple years ago. Appearance wise, nothing has changed since.

Things I've done, so far:
Completely new front brakes and metal brake lines
New quick ratio steering box and all power steering components
Oil Change

I am considering changing to a quick ratio steering box, which one did you go with and how do you like it?

Thanks 02GTFL but it hasn't always looked this way. It was a true barn find but was in decent shape. If you look closely at the number of pedals under the dash, you'll notice there's only two. Very Happy I have to point that out a lot when people tell me it's cool that I have a 4 speed. I've done a little work under the hood since I got it too.

Yours looks great sir.

Thanks... the pictures do mine a lot of justice though!  Laughing

I didn't even notice the 2 pedals, just saw the shifter. By the way, this one still has the bench seat, too. I plan on keeping that!

It's 2.5 turns lock-to-lock. Stock was 3.75 to 4 turns. It was a bolt-in affair, too.

Which currently reports as out-of-stock. FWIW, the stock G3 Monte steering box is also 2.5 turns lock to lock. Rumor has it the G3 Grand Prix one is also. So those might be options for you.
