Power Steering Pump Recommendation
Hey. I am building up the front of my engine on my Laguna project. I am in need of a power steering pump/reservoir set up. I have been looking at Summit and there are many. I need to know which one is the correct one for my '76 Laguna with a big block Chevrolet. I have the brackets and pulley, but no pump. Works better with a pump. A couple of links to what I have been looking at. Thanks.

Re: Power Steering Pump Recommendation
You really need a direct replacement for the front drive brackets on your engine. Hoses will pretty much bolt to all early pumps. If you're running '80s brackets, you need 80s pump but you may need to sort out the stud on the back of the pump because many times, it doesn't come on replacement pumps.
I just did an LS6 going in a '73 and used this pump - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aaz-20-6182f
It used a keyed pulley which is so much better than the pressed pulley that was never intended to be removed.
The Cardone pump was oily and messy on arrival but after cleaned up and rattle canned it was fine. No issues. No sure the AC Delco is worth the money since they are now just another rebuilder.
The big trick is having all matched brackets and pulleys. The pump and tank will need to match what you have installed.

Re: Power Steering Pump Recommendation
Hey. Thanks for the input. I will look at my bracket and pulley shortly and see what I have. More to come.

Re: Power Steering Pump Recommendation
Another thing to consider is how much pressure you want the pump to provide. You can adjust the pressure by adding/removing some small washers that are part of the high pressure fitting. I think pirate 4x4 has a detailed thread about how to change this.

Yes. I read some about that. I will have large front tires. It looks like a couple of shims/washers will give a little more feel and less of the Lincoln Town Car steering.
