Laguna at Laguna

This is mostly about the 65 NASCAR Impala that was found and is being restored but about 3/4 of the way down the page is a few picture of a 74-5 Malibu at Laguna Seca, pretty nice picture.

Re: Laguna at Laguna
Notice the Corvette exhaust manifolds in the engine2 picture? That is what I wanted on my engine and I let my engine builder talk me into Comp headers. If I had the money I would hunt up those headers and redo the hundreds of dollars worth of exhaust work I did on it. The spoiler on the 76 Chevelle looks exactly like mine. I am glad I left mine satin black. JB

Judging from the front bumper, it's a 74. Notice how slender it looks.

Re: Laguna at Laguna
Maybe they put a 74-5 bumper on a 76-7? Those are for sure quad headlight buckets.

Not so sure about the quad headlights. Covers can be deceiving.

Re: Laguna at Laguna
True. But look at the one on the drivers side. Looks like you can see the square opening all the way around.

Re: Laguna at Laguna
Looks like you are probably right about the headlights. The driver was Gary Johnson & it's a 1976 Chevelle. He ran a 73 Dodge up until race #3 in the 1976 season, when he switched to a 76 Chevelle sponsored by Noble Auto Parts. Strange that it has a 74 front bumper though & even stranger that it isn't a Laguna being a new Nascar race car in 1976.

Re: Laguna at Laguna
TECHNICALLY
If it was a Malibu, then it was a Chevelle. If it had quad headlights, then it was a Malibu Classic, not a Malibu. Smartass.
