Post by kojak Sat Oct 23, 2010 10:50 pm

hello everybody. i have a '74 buick regal that was my grandfathers car. i drove it briefly and parked it. its been sitting mostly since '93. i lost the garage space about 9 years ago so it's a bit weathered. my dads car was recently totalled so he asked for it back :Dhe's actually getting it painted and restored, me and my brother are doing the pre body work and will put it back together after its painted, its actually been fun but challenging too. its a no option car, but it does have a fancy sonomatic radio and we put power brakes on it a few years back. still cant believe safety was a option. i signed up as kojak cause he drove the same car in the tv series. lol anyway let me know what you guys think  Cool jim

You know, when Kojak drove that car I hated it, but I have matured and now I am quite drawn to it. Keep up the good work. JB

Welcome to the site! All I can say is "What's NOT to like?" Brown, four door, steel wheels, & even round gauges with a tan interior. She looks like a real sleeper with a lot of potential for sure. Smile Just flip the white walls inside & it will look good! Are you sticking with the same color?

That cover is designed to help support the carrier bearings, with support studs, and if running any serious power on a 10 bolt, it's a good idea.

Also supposed to keep the rear diff running cooler vs the stock steel cover. Not to mention it just looks great!

I noticed that too. What I didn't see at first was hitting me right in the face. Look at the shock location.

OK Kojak spill the beans whats up with this rear set up why the weird looking sway bar set up and all this performance minded stuff and chose to leave it single exhaust ???

Turbo? That's no ordinary single exhaust. There is something funky going on where the catalytic converter is supposed to be.

If those are really aluminum ones & not just painted, they are getting hard to find. Supposed to have been available starting in 1977 on up to the mid 80's on everything from Chevelles to Blazers & most GM stuff in between. Problem is that they are all about 30 years old by now & most vehicles have had the drums replaced at some point. Another problem is that there seems to be no rhyme or reason to why some cars got aluminum drums & others didn't. If you run across a decent set, pick them up! They significantly drop weight off of your rotating mass.

Also a bit off of the unsprung mass. I was even thinking of looking for some to fit my 9" Furd rear in the Elco.

Looks like a 2004R trans, and a 8 1/2" 10 bolt to me. Been a long time since my GN looked like that. When I swapped to a th400 with a trans-brake I obliterated the air bag first time I launched at 22#'s of boost Cool
