New Cutlass owner
Hi, my name is Wayne Shipley; and I now own a 1977 Olds Cutlass Supreme five-speed. I've been following this car for the better part of two years when it came out of the Jack Safro collection and went to a Mecum auction. I bought it from a museum in Florida. It's the first car I ever bought sight unseen. Just couldn't pass up a no-option (well, a couple) car originally owned by a man who was born in 1913. I was generally pleased with its condition as we backed it off the transporter. Now I'm even more taken with it because of the way it runs. It's a dream to drive. NO POWER mind you, but a dream to drive. My first thought was to build a serious street car with a warmed over small block and an aftermarket five speed, but it's almost too nice to screw with. So, right now, I'm just going to enjoy it. I'll buy new tires (Anyone have any 15x7 steelies?) and tweek the suspension. Might even put duals on it if I can find or fab a cross member.
I've been an Olds fan for more time than I'd like to admit. Buying my first 442 in 1965 began a life-long affection for the now defunct marque. I currently own a 1969 W31 and a 1966 Nostalgia Super Stock 442 that I run with the 422 Motorsports Allstars in the mid-Atlantic region. My son also has a 1970 F-85 I bought new to run pure stock. It's been a drag car all of its life.
Hope to learn a lot from you guys about the Gen 3 A-bodies.

Yeah it's on here somewhere. It's just that I just got done helping my little brother stab his new transmission in his mustang, and I'm just feeling to lazy right now to look. Big shocker huh. Re: New Cutlass owner
Welcome! Sounds like you found a cool Cutlass. If it were up to me, I'd say a set of Buick Rallyes would look great. Then, I'd put a healthy 455 in it. Then, well, I'd probably never be done with it if I got my hands on one....
Either way, welcome!

Hey Indy, Olds makes a set of rally wheels like you are probably talking about. They are called SSI wheels:

Welcome to the site Wayne & nice score on finding a 5 speed car

Re: New Cutlass owner
My cousin has a set of the SSI wheels. Or at least he did. That guy seems to run across hard to find stuff like it was nothing. He once found a 455 with C casting heads & Toro oil pan laying in a field that the owner gave to him for free just to clean up his land. Also found a good Muncie M-22 for $100, several 400 SBC's over the years for next to nothing, a set of Strato buckets that just needed dusted off for like $25, & I haven't even got into the really cool stuff. Because of him, I know where to pick up a field full of 58 Impalas, a different field with two Heavy Chevy Chevelles, & a barn with a Rallye 350 Cutlass for near scrap prices.
Sorry to hi-jack the thread.
Hey Wayne, is your Cutlass white by chance? In the last couple of years I've seen three different 5 speed Cutlasses online & they are all white. One is a member on here even.
