Its been a while, My old computer started to crash back in febuary so I decided to buy a new laptop, well I got a Dell, it lasted probably 2 weeks before a windows update killed it, havent figured out the problem but the laptop still has three years of warrenty and I can not get dell to fix it under the warrenty because the laptop was never transfered into my name, which is BS, to beable to transfer the ownership you have to have the previous owners information which I do not have, and the previous owner must answer their email and phone when Dell trys to contact them to verify the ownership transfer. Its been fun. The hard drive took a crap in my old Lenovo, finally bought a new HD to get it working agian. So here I am I should be updating the forum some with the time that I dont have Very Happy

Welcome back...I'm not software savvy but that Windows update has killed my laptop 3 times. I just keep side steppin it for now cause technology is the devil!!!

Been down that road too. I never update windows anymore, just try & get microsoft to admit to anything- impossible. All you really need is a good virus/spyware program.

I'm going to school for computers, and I have heard so many people say how horrible Windows Updates are. My main machine has Win7, my netbook has WinXP, as does my old PC. I install Windows Updates whenever they pop up, and I have NEVER had an issue with them. Funny how things work.

have had 3 different computer "Guru's" look at it and none of them have been able to figure it out. I dont want to go swapping parts till I verify that dell will not cover it under the warrenty that was bought for it.

All the problem i've had have been with vista. My desktop and laptop both use vista and it sucks. I've heard windows 7 is way better, and is made to work with older pc's

If u have the install/recovery disc u can reinstall windows and start over.

My Dell has windows 7, its pretty much loaded 350gig drive, I5 processor, 4 gig RAM
