74 upholstery
How come no one offers dark blue upholstery for 1974?

Re: 74 upholstery
If i had to guess is would say not enough demand for it. Remember our cars are just recently getting the recognition they deserve. It would probably not be profitable for them.

Re: 74 upholstery
I am assuming since your car is a 74 chevelle, that it is the medium blue ... the el camino store would have the replacement cover for at least the front seat.

Thanks, I'll check it out. The build sheet calls it midnight blue. It looks like dark blue to me.

If it makes you feel any better years ago a buddy was restoring a'71 olds 442. (A much more popular car) It had a orange interior, and he had to have covers made custom since they were not available.

The El Camino Store upholstery isn't dark enough. The fabric doesn't match, either, but that's not a huge deal.

Re: 74 upholstery
I had some seat covers custom made for my 73. I found someone local, and it cost a grand.
I found out after the fact, about a company in California, where you send them your old covers, and they custom make them in whatever color you want. I could have almost been able to get leather for the price I had my vinyl ones done.
The downside to them is, you will still have to redo your foam, and then hog-ring the new covers on.
Here's the phone number of the company in Cali ... I think they are still in business 714-701-3620 good luck

Re: 74 upholstery
Was there a difference from 74 to 76? Are you talking vinyl or vinyl/velour?
There is a dark blue listed for 1976 here

Re: 74 upholstery
I don't know how much of a difference there is. My seats are fabric on the tops and faces with vinyl on the sides, headrests, and arm rest.

Re: 74 upholstery
Some of these company's have access to bulk "NOS" fabrics & vinyls.
Call them up hopefully they can tell for sure. I'm not sure that Chevelle & Monte bench seats had the same pattern with the buttons for all years. Sounds like you have a combo set. They're a bit more expensive but the prices on that site seem reasonable.

Re: 74 upholstery
My seat upholstery came from NPD, and it's made by PUI. NPD also has the vinyl yardage, in 54 X 76 inch rolls. Don't see any dark blue for seat upholstery, but they show dark blue in the bulk rolls, for the '76 model year.
