Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
My only issue with tape stripes is shrinking and cracking, thats why Id rather paint. And you dont need steady hands for taping parallel lines, only the first piece. Once that piece is down and you want a gap, you put tape (the width of the gap you want) right next to the first tape. Then put more tape next to that. All side by side. Then remove the tape pieces where you want the paint to go. Perfect parallel lines every time!!!

Right I know what you mean Joe but these are the same quality of 3m Vinyl stripes they use to wrap Boats semis and put large decals On Nascar Haulers and such and it lasted 40+ years from Back in the day on my Friends SE that passed away With hardly any sun fading and no cracking this pic a member Here that recently Joined and hasnt got to much fading and I see no cracking and its 100% original from 1977

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
So what do you do when its 50+ degrees out ??
Well easy you test fit the wheels you just mounted tires on and HOT DAMM I love the fit and Installing the New springs will give it the extra little height to give me the confidence they will NOT rub, I already have enough room to fit hand between top and back side of Tire.
15 x10 w/5" backspace and 325/50 15

Cut that lip back as much as you can. Those thin sidewall tires will not just rub they will shred.

Gabriel Hi-Jackers for that 1970's retro look! Or how about the fiberglass/bondo fender custom extension?
Pure sarcasm!

Just dont cut the lip to a point where the fender and Inner lip is not hanging together anymore. I have seen fenders split appart after rear end collision, because the lip was cut extensively or rustet out.
But it sure is a fat look and looks good.

My opinion, too close for comfort for me. Nice dip in the road and there cold be problems. I have 5" backspace on my 8.5" centerlines and they fit perfect with full suspension articulation. I tried it on my lift with no springs and shocks in the car. But I'd still like some 6" backspace because theres room back there.

Shocks have to be extended length as well otherwise they will "top out" when driving.

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
At least it is not because the frame is rottet out. 20 years ago i bought a 74 elcamino, i did not look close enough at the condition of the frame. The whole back part was rustet out. And on the Way home the car would be all over the Road, making some nasty noises. Later i took it to the shop and someone had tried to repair it with angel iron and a velder. Needles to say it was done badly. I never finished that projekt. I partet it out, now i wish i had not cause alot of hard to find stuff Got crushed. But then it was just a junk car.

Generally on the 68-72 we had to run 5.5" backspacing to pull the tire in as far as we could with a 15X10.

Those will definitely help. Better than trying to upgrade the factory ones. I want to get them for my 80. My 70 has the factory f-41 arms in it so I’ll change the bushings in those. I also used the rubber bushings in the upper housing ears on the rear in my race car with the solid bushings everywhere else. Went 10.50’s at 127 with that setup.

Re: This SE Now Belongs to my 18 year old daughter now LOL
Well fixed the broken shaft shock tower and now have plenty of room for the 325/50 under there.
Started the New trailing arm swap and my great Harbor Freight jack stand bent they were 2 tons and had two under there stepping up to the 6 ton ones and calling it a day today
I have realized I'm too old to be laying on concrete ground and wrenching I need a lift ARRGGG
