AED 4150 problems
Hey guys, my engine is a 357 brodix heads comp cam xe274 14in of vacuum. Some problems, first when braking the engine tries to die out but I blip thin throttle and it comes back. Second, when I’m in third and punch it, it bogs and pops. Could this be because of my 2.73 rear gears and my m20 ratios? Or tuning issue. Also it just tries to die when going slow and trying to pull into a drive way

With that vacuum you should have a 6.5 power valve. Does your car have 1 or 2 power valves? Your low speed fuel enrichment will be from this circuit. What is your fuel pressure?

It has one power valve, in the front. It’s a 4.5 could this be causing an issue?

Re: AED 4150 problems
If you step on the brakes with it idling does the idle change? The braking issue sounds either like a vacuum leak through the brakes or the carb spilling over out of the vents when on the brakes. The pop when you step on the gas is a little tougher. You have to try to figure out if its going lean or fat. Lean could be the powervalve coming in too late or the squirter and pump cam not being fast enough. Fat could be the squirters are too big, because you are using front and rear squirters.

I put my old edelbrock 600 on to see if it does the same thing, if not then it has to the the carb. Also could the 4.5 power valve be causing the going lean issue, since I have more vacuum that that?

Re: AED 4150 problems
I put the edelbrock on and the issue is completely gone, so it leaves me with the carb being the issue.

I know I can tune the bog out of it, but I’m concerned about why it’s dying when come to a stop. Also I picked up a 6.5 power valve to replace the 4.5

Well that is the idea of the powervalve coming in too late. The PV opens when manifold vacuum drops. So if its not getting to 4.5 fast enough it may not be pulling it open.

Re: AED 4150 problems
6.5 power valve seemed to fix it no more stumble and doesn’t stall when coming to a stop either
