Limey, I've always wondered about these base model Malibu's in 76 & 77. I thought they came with single round headlights and the larger opera windows like this one I found at the Jackson auction in 2018. This appears to be a 76 with the big side windows. But this 77 appears to be original with the smaller side windows. https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_question.gif

I have also wondered the same thing too, especially when I saw a 77 wagon which looked all original but had the single headlights. But it is consistent with the sales brochures for those years- see below. The brown 4 door sedan pic is from the 76 brochure (though it doesn't state the model year anywhere on the page). The burnt orange 4 door sedan pic is from the 77 brochure, and clearly states the model year in the text on that page. So you could get the single headlights on your Malibu/Chevelle on either of those years.

Cool info FumiyoG3. I'll have to dig up a 76 brochure and see if they have pics of the base model Malibu. Do you think GM decided to use previous model year parts in the last 2 years of this generation of A Bodies to keep costs down?

Well yet another Learning Experience for The Limey That 1977 Base Malibu is correct with the Small Opera windows Im at a Loss as trying to explain Why 76 Base was big window only BUT 77 Had Both Options MAYBE they had to Many single Headlight offerings and had to get rid of this Type .......WHICH leads me to Believe somewhere there is a Mess Of Base 11977 Malibu parts NOS somewhere
Also while Looking for Brochures found another anonomly a 1974 Base WIth Large Windows didnt know they were either
