Another Washington Member
Hello to All, I'm glad to have found this site. Actually one of the other Washington members found my ad on CL and told me about you all.
Back in 77 my Dad talked to me about redoing a Monte SS 454. However we had a difference of opinion, I wanted to keep it. He wanted to do father and son project then sell it. I should have done it, and then tried to keep it anyway...lol. Then in 81 I purchased a 73 SS 454. Followed that up with a 73 Elcky 454, both with swivel buckets and both pretty quick. I cook booked a 500hp motor for the SS from a Car Craft article. Blew up the rear end twice doing neutral drops. Ended up selling both cars and now hear I am many many years later with one very rusty Laguna. I bought it in 1996 and my wife hated it. the engine and trans were out and it had just started to develop rust on the body. Wife hated it so bad that it sat at a buddies house until I divorced her...lol
Then in 2008 I shipped the car with a replacement engine out here to Washington. Now the body is just full of rust but the engine is good and the swivel seats are there. Just this week I bought a stock 73 that has a great body. Now comes the swap. Taking engine and trans (400/400) from the Laguna as well as the complete interior, dash, wheel, column, console shift and the ever important swivel buckets. Also going to check the rear to see if it is a posi unit. From browsing the site it appears this type of swap has been coined as a "Maligoon"...lol

Gonna keep it going though eventually i will find and convert it to a 76 slant nose, but as for now I am real happy with what i have. Keep us posted brother and thanks for joining up once again.

Re: Another Washington Member
Take your hood off. Then take off the four bolts holding the fenders to the firewall (2 per side). Next take off the bolts up front (can't remember how many) that are attached to the frame. You should be able to have the entire front clip off in an hour. Make sure to spray all bolts with some PBlaster the day before to break up the rust.
I say do this even if your fenders are shot because they will provide you with a template to drill holes on the good ones. It is also easier to disassemble everything if it's more accessible .

I'm in Marysville Washington.
along the I-5 corridor, 30 miles North of Seattle.
Portland is three hours south of us.
But Portland has a Hooters!

Wow, you are a ways away.
There is one Hooters left in Portland that I know of and it use to be a "Waddles." The one across from Mall 205 closed down two years ago.

Re: Another Washington Member
From time to time I do pass through Portland. i've got family in Salem.
But the real trick is finding a place where several of us can get together.
email is great, but there is nothing better than checking out each others cars, talking face to face, swapping stories and swapping parts.

Re: Another Washington Member
If you're in Portland the second Saturday in August, stop by Downtown Gresham and check out the Annual Gresham Rockin' Round the Block car show. I'm there every year with my car club, Portland Club Grand Prix.
