Off topic project
I have owned this airplane project since 1972 ! It's a 1947 Luscombe Silvaire. It's been a back-burner project all these years, and only got worked on when other airplanes came first.
Here's a pic of the instrument panel, which is a modernized version. Being it originally had a little 65 HP Continental engine, I think of that like I do cars....needs more power. So it now has a 115 HP Lycoming engine.
It was originally a wreck that the wind blew over, and I ended up building the fuselage from scratch, with all new metal panels, and lot of rivets !

Nice project! Does the extra 50hp make a big difference?

Re: Off topic project
Yes, a light airplane is affected quite a bit, even with an extra 25 HP.
My other build is a 1947 Cessna 120, which had an 85 HP Continental engine, and during it's restoration I switched it to a 125 HP Lycoming. Good example of power difference is that it had a rate of climb of like 750 feet per minute in ideal conditions, and now pulls 2000 feet a minute. More of a hot-rodded airplane !
On the Luscombe project, I'm currently working on the engine cowling.

Re: Off topic project
That is awesome. I used to fly model planes. I still had a 3d electric plane, but it needs some work.

Re: Off topic project
I designed all of the graphics on my rc plane. It was nice. I liked it much better after the design. This is one like mine. Mine actually has flames around the cowl and going back over the fuselage. On the bottom of the wings is a red and black Typhoon logo that I came up with. Much more modern and AWESOME looking than the original graphics.

Re: Off topic project
Cool graphics ! I never tried to fly an RC plane, but some of my friends are into those.

My favorite plane is a P47 Thunderbolt. Just love the look. Keep us posted on your progress. I want to see it finished.

I did some RC pilon racing back in the 80's. After the racing was done for the day a buddy and I would compete making how low can you go inverted
high speed passes. That guy would just about mow the grass with that thing and pull it out and never crash.

Re: Off topic project
I have crashed mine three times I think. Stinks when it happens, but at least I am not in it when it does!
